Chiyo's eyes fluttered open. She rubbed her puffy eyes and stayed in bed, body curled up like a sick child. She cried to sleep again, without even washing up.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated against the table, signaling a new message.

She quickly rolled out of bed and stood up. Chiyo ran to the table and grabbed her phone, checking the message.

"Please be him." she prayed as she unlocked her phone.

It was from Jeongguk.

To Chiyo,
I'm sorry.

From Jeongguk.

Her mind blanked out. Chiyo read through the text over and over again.

"I'm sorry.." those words rang in her head.

Her phone fell from her grasp and landed on the wooden floor with a thud.

Chiyo fell on her knees. Her face remained emotionless.

"What do you mean, Jeon Jeongguk?"

Then she laughed. She ran a hand through her hair and laughed, the sound echoing in her room. Tears slowly cascaded down her cheeks, like the raindrops that started to form a few minutes ago.

The sky was crying too.

Her laughter was replaced with loud sobs. Chiyo grabbed her shirt and hit her chest.

Why did he just left her without a reason or explanation?

Why did he let go just like that?

Did he not love her anymore?

Why did he gave up?

Just, why?

After a long moment, Chiyo's sobs died down.

She looked at herself in the long mirror that leaned against her wall.

Chiyo wiped the excess tears and fixed her hair.

"I got to find him. I got to fix this. I can save our love." she thought as she stood up.

Chiyo picked up her phone from the floor and ran out of her room.

She did not even bother to wear a raincoat despite the rain.

She slipped in her beaten up Converse and grabbed her bike.

Chiyo hopped on her bike and cycled out, the rain pouring on her.

She pedaled faster and faster through the slippery road.

Chiyo had to get to the airport, before it was too late.

She had to stop him.

Chiyo continue to cycle into the town, gaining the passerby's attention.

"Jeon Jeongguk, wait for me." she said to herself.

Out of the blue, a four wheel drive honked at her, the lights blinding her.

The next thing happened in a blur as the vehicle collided with Chiyo's bike, sending her to the other side of the road.

Chiyo landed on the road with a thud.

Her head was spinning. Her vision was slowly turning black. The raindrops fell on her cheeks, as if giving her pecks on the cheeks to stay strong.

She slowly raised her hand to see blood.

Chiyo was surrounded with a pool of blood. Her head was bleeding, cuts and scratches decorated her skin.

The last thing she heard was someone shouting before she completely passed out.

Jeongguk sat on one of the chairs provided at the departure section.

He checked his watch and tapped his legs nervously.

He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed the number he memorized by heart.

"The number you are dialing is currently unavailable. Please try again."

Jeongguk groaned and slammed the phone on his lap.

"There's no use in calling her. Told you she was a gold digger. She refused the first time but she can't refuse the second time."

Jeongguk looked up to see his father looking at him. He stare at him in disgust.

"I don't even know how you're my father. And she's not a gold digger! Chiyo will never do that! She'll come." he exclaimed, jaw tightening.

He was mad at his father, hate to be more specific.

How could his father do that to him?

His father scoffed.

"The plane's taking off soon. Let's see if she will come. And watch what you're saying, young man." he warned before walking off to join his wife at the seats.

Mrs Jeon look at her son sadly, unable to do anything.

"Good afternoon passengers. This is the regular boarding announcement for flight 89B to South Korea. Passengers can begin boarding at this time. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Thank you."

Jeongguk scanned his surroundings, hoping to see her somewhere. But to no avail, there's no sign of the girl with short hair.

He gripped the handle of his luggage tight.

"Did she really love me just for the money?"

"Was our love all a lie?"

Mrs Jeon stood up and placed a hand on her son's shoulder. He turned around to see his mother smiling softly at him.

"Let's go."

He wanted to protest but his mother already grabbed his hand and pulled him with her to the boarding section.

Jeongguk turned back one last time, the last flame of hope burned lightly in his heart.

When he saw no one, the flame extinguished, and he turned in front, never looking back.

"Goodbye, Amano Chiyo."
