The world was determined to kick you out
Since the very start of your nineteen year life
It wore every part of you down and threw the pieces all around

Yet you somehow always binded the bits back together
And returned more resilient than ever,
Free of the fetters your past tethered

Go on, conquer the shadow of death
You're so resilient, my brave friend
Won't you go on, and conquer the shadow of death?
You're so resilient, my beautiful friend

The world was granted its wish and in a year's time cancer took your life
Yet until you died, not once did you fail to fight

I wish I could have spoken to you one more time,
Be it through another one of these stupid rhymes you liked,
And get it through your mind just how much you changed my life

Sticks and stones could never break your bones
I keep hoping I'll get a message on my phone
The kind that always gave me a smile
And made everything for a moment
A little more worthwhile

Go on, conquer the shadow of death
You're so resilient, my brave friend
Won't you go on, and conquer the shadow of death?
You're so resilient, my beautiful friend

Stay gold, my Ponyboy, my angelic gem and brave friend,
I hope you finally encountered your desired end.

If only someone would revive you so you could see that I wrote a poem about you.

You'd lose it, wouldn't you?

Rest easy, buddy.
