I Need No Pity

Natalia's pov

"What are you doing here Matt?"

He shifts his weight to his other leg before narrowing his eyes.

"Is it true?" This time his voice was merely a whisper and it broke my heart.

"I don't want to talk about this." I open the door to go back in but the next thing I know is that I'm lifted in the strongest arm I've ever known.

I'm shocked and I just look at him surprised. He looks at me, and I mean, really looks at me before he drags me out of the room section.

He carries me until we are at the back of the resort. It's like a forest and it's really creepy. He let's me down slowly until I'm standing on my own too feet. I stumble a bit and he brings his arms around my waist. I also do the same but this time around I bring my arms to his neck.

He leans closer until our foreheads are touching. My heart starts its marathon and the sparks erupt filling my body, I shiver a little, not because I'm still in my wet clothes, but because his presence is literally killing me. I think I'm going to have another Attack right here and now.His breath fans my neck and I feel my body tingle in excitement.

"What are you doing to me."
"The same thing you are doing to me."

He smiles a little and that's the first time he's smiled because of something I said. He pulls me closer and I take another gulp. I tilt my head to look at him. His eyes were blazing and I could see his pupils dilate. Even in the dark, his seagreen eyes were still prominent.

I shifted my eyes to his lips and he licked them as if tempting me.

"I love you baby doll. I don't know how or when, but I do. I don't know what I would do if I lost you. I'd go crazy. You bring a whole new meaning to my life. Everytime I see you, I get this whole new meaning of life."

This is what I was afraid of.

Tears, which seem to be my best friend now freely flows. I pull away and stand behind him. Is this seriously happening right now?

Im pushed to a hard chest with my back on his chest." Please say something, please."

I turn so that I'm face to face with him. "This," I point between him and I. "It can't happen. We were not meant to be together. Scratch that, we can't be together. We are two worlds apart." At this rate, I am poking his chest.

"Are you sick?" This causes me to gulp audibly. I take some steps away from him and clutch my arms burying a sniffle.

"Tell me!" it was more of a command and I couldn't help but jump in fright.

"Yes, I'm sick Matt. I'm going to die. I have a hole in my heart. I keep getting heart attacks and I know I won't survive. It's already too late even if I start treatment. The only thing that can help me now is a heart transplant." I furiously wipe the tears that are threatening to come out.

" But who in his right mind can give up, his her heart to a stranger. According to my doctor, my heart can only last not more than a year. Now tell me, what's the meaning of my life. I have an expired heart. My life is ending. You see.. This" I point once more between him and I. "it can never work. I only have a year.. A year."

He hugs me once more resting his chin on my head.

"it's OK, I will be here for you. Everything is going to be fine."

I smile and pull away.

"I don't need pity right now. Especially from you. You see, nothing is going to be fine. I'm still going to die ok."

"I'm not pitying you. I just want to be there for you."

"Haven't you lost enough people?Aren't you scared of losing another person. I am going to die. Let it get into your head. Like, I'm not coming back. I'm going six feet under. Where there is no breathing, no eating no school, no... No you" I swear the last bit was a whisper, but I guess he heard me because the next thing I felt was his lips on mine.

I could feel the salt of my tears in my mouth. I think my heart stopped for a while. I just let myself get lost in the moment. Ashton freaking Matthews was kissing me and I was a goner.! I felt on cloud nine and I think I clung on his jacket too tight.

We pulled away to catch our breaths and he took this moment to wipe away my tears stroking each cheek of mine. "I'm not going to leave you, I'm going to live for you. Yes, I have lost many people and that's why I don't want to lose one more. We are going to find a heart for you. Even if it kills me, I'm going to find one for you. You belong here, here next to me." I felt my heart melt, and this time, I'm the one who reached to him and pecked his lip.

" Thank you for everything Matt, "

" Don't thank me. At least not until I get you another heart. "he straps his hands tightly around my waist and I do the same to his neck.

" I'm going to fight for this thing that we are having, for us. That I promise you. "He pecks my lip once more and I shudder in excitement.

" OK, let's get you some clothes, you are shivering. "

He drops his jacket on my shoulders and intertwines our fingers together before walking back to our rooms. He let's me in his room and after shutting his door, he cups my face and looks at me.

"Never ever again tell me to give up on you." I just smile and nod at him.
