Edward fiddles with his bow tie as he waits by the staircase for Drew, for some reason nervous to see her. Esme called and said to let this go, Drew forgives him so long as he's honest with her from now on and he agreed. He has to learn to tell her things first, she has a right to know. He just doesn't want to tell her something and lose her. That's his greatest fear.
He watches as people begin to arrive, his sense on edge as we waits for a sign; a thought, a scent, a glimse. His father watches him closely, amused at his sons nervousness. For many years Edward was the cocky one, the one who'd make fun of the others for being so in love. And look at how he has grown!
Edward rolls his eyes as he hears, but quickly looks at the top of the stairs as he catches the scent of a vampire. More like 3 of them - finally. He looks past them and his jaw almost drops in surprise as he sees his Drew. Wow...
Drew takes the steps slowly, one at a time as she grips the rail, finally meeting Edwards gaze. She blushes as his face breaks into a smile at the sight of her, the movement contagious as she smiles widely too. He extends his hand to her and she takes it, blushing again as he bows and kisses it.
"You look... Wow." He says as he wraps an arm around her. "I can't believe it."
"You don't look too bad yourself, mister grumpy." She smiles as she smooths his collar a little. "Yknow, I saw what you mean." She says.
"What do you mean?" He asks as they head towards their table.
"When you say I'm beautiful, I never believe you. Well... I will today. Ill allow it." She smiles.
Edward laughs and kisses her cheek as he helps her sit. "I'm glad you did, but if you think I won't ever call you it again then you're wrong."
She rolls her eyes, taking his hand as he sits next to her. She watches people enter and mingle, but she more so notices as Bella and Jacob enter, her mates body tensing slightly.
I'm not going to start a fight but I felt that. She snaps in her thoughts as she watches the man on stage address everyone, thanking them for coming, etc. Edward sighs heavily as he too watches, rubbing small circles on her hand. He's gotta learn to control himself more.
After a meal, an auction and a few speeches about the fundraiser for the hospital, the dance floor opens to people, an orchestra and piano player the music for this evening.
Edward looks at Drew. "Dance with me."
She shakes her head. "Not in these shoes."
He smirks as he stands, pulling her with him. "Humour me." He shrugs.
She glares playfully but melts at his smirk, following him to the dance floor. Alice and Jasper are already showing off as Carlisle and Esme mingle, Emmett and Rosalie sat at the table whispering.
Drew feels Edwards cold hands slip down her side, settling on her behind as she raises an eyebrow. He kisses her nose and begins to sway with her, smirking. "See, this isn't so bad huh."
"I'm not sure this classes as dancing, my love." She muses as she slides her arms around his neck. "I know you can do better than that."
"Who's the cocky one now?" He muses as they begin to step in a rhythm, Drew easily keeping up as Edward twirls her and they spin around the dance floor; they certainly steal the show from his siblings as everyone turns to watch, the floor clear for them.
Bella watches, full of envy; that's her man. Her Edward. He should be doing that with her but he never would. He treated her like a China doll but with that thing he is more than happy to show her off and throw her around. She glares at Drews head, disgusted by her blonde hair and pretty face. That should be her up there.
