Chapter 16: Dinner With Them

"Yeah.", he said. We sat in front of his study table and turned his bendable lamp on. He put a stack of books and his lecture notebook on it. "Start with the hardest or easiest?",I asked. "Hardest. I think I can deal with easy ones myself.", he said. "Okay then.",I said and opened his Math textbook. Our previous lesson was about Rational Algebraic Expressions and we have a quiz next week about it. "Do you even know we have a quiz about this next week?",I asked. "Of course. Someone once said,"If you failed to prepare, you are preparing to fail.", he said. "I've heard that one before. It was a good one.",I said and started to discuss. Minutes later...

"So after I got the result, I must simplify it but I can't cancel a variable of a binomial even if it's the same as the other monomial that was left.", he said while solving. "Yeah, but if they have a common factor, divide them with it and you'll get your final answer.",I said. "I understand it now. Let's move on to your fave.", he said. "Oh, Science. What a wonderful subject.",I said. My stomach growled then, his too. We both laughed. Good thing I brought 3 boxes of my fave snack Pocky! I opened one and we shared. 2 hours later, We had eaten all 3 boxes and I had finished tutoring him. The only thing he needs to take so I'll know it's successful are quizzes that I made while he read. We suddenly heard footsteps coming from the stairs. It was Scarlet. She went into her room. "Let's take a break. Studying for 2 hours and taking breaks for 30 minutes is an effective way of studying.",I said. "We already studied for 2 hours? No wonder my brain's so exhausted.", he said and touched his head. Suddenly, someone knocks on the door. It was Scarlet. She already changed into everyday clothes. Red opened it. "Dinner's ready.", she said. "Okay.", he replied. I unlocked my phone and found out that the time was 7:22 pm. Already? Time flies so fast. I texted Mom.

To: Mom

Mom, I'll eat dinner here with them. Sorry if you'll eat alone.

Okay then sweetie. Don't worry about me and just enjoy.

Red and I went downstairs and headed to the dining room. Everything was set and they weren't eating yet. They must have waited for us. Red pulled a chair for me. "Trying to be a gentleman.", Scarlet said. "Thanks.",I told Red. He smiled and sat beside me. "Let's thank the Lord for this meal.", his Dad said. We joined arms together and prayed. After that, we uncoiled our arms and I scooped mash potatoes to my plate. Red's mom gave me a thick lamb chop. The food was really good. After the dinner, Red and I went back in studying again. "So, what's next?",I asked. "History.", he said and grabbed the textbook. Minutes later, Red already understood every detail about History and I was already done in making the quiz. "There's nothing next now.", he said. "Well okay. Here's a quiz I made. Those are FAQ's in quizzes and exams.",I said while pushing my notebook towards him. "Okay.", he said and started answering it. My eyes are starting to get sleepy and I'm starting to feel drowsy. I think I'm about to sleep now. Zzzzzz...
