It was early in the morning, I checked my clock, 6:30. It was time, I put on a coat and headed out for the stables where Ashley my coach was waiting for me.
" You're late" Ashley growled.
"I got here as quick as I could" I snorted.
"Well anyway lets get to work"
I jogged over to the pen where Stevie my pet ostrich was waiting for me. He was a gift from my parents was I was 12 years old, I had begged them for weeks and weeks until finally they agreed. And 2  years later I'm still passionate about racing. My past teachers told me I was a prodigy, that in no time I would be a professional. I had a future ahead of me, ostrich racing is what I wanted to do. I rode Stevie outside into the warm Arizona air. I felt the heat of the sun graze upon my exposed arms and head. This feeling, right here is a reminder to why I do what I do. My hands seized onto Stevie's neck and we rode into the wind. I felt the soft breeze blow my hair back. Stevie was running at 40km/h, Stevie was running a little quick, I felt a little uneasy but decided I could handle it.
"Be careful" Ashley called out.
"Don't worry, I got this" I yelled back.
Then tragedy struck.
