(Y/n)'s P.o.v
Wednesday, 5:00pm
Finally, sure Wednesdays aren't all that busy compared to some other days like Mondays and Fridays, but honestly I just have such low energy today.
But now I'm off work and get to head to the library and return my book, pick out a new one, and start reading. I always love the feeling of picking out a new book.
As I walk out of the Coffee shop and to the library, I noticed all the people in the busy sidewalk of New York. Sure its common and something I see everyday, but its really the first time I truly noticed it. Weird.
Anyway I make it to the library I run into Eiji before making it inside, he was leaving.
"Hi (Y/n)," He greeted "Hello Eiji," I said with a smile and continued "So what were you doing here?".
"Oh just finishing looking through my photos for my next assignment in my photography class, and my friend was with me reading." He explained.
"Is this the same friend that you mentioned Monday? Sure sounds like he spends a lot of time here." I said chuckling. Not that I am any different, at least HE has some friends.
"He does, but hey you're not one to talk you do too," he says and I giggle with this statement. "Now that I think about it you don't talk about much else. That makes me a bit sad." He finished.
"Aww Eiji, its ok. I just don't have a lot going on in my life right now and no real good friends to speak of, so I guess things are a bit slow at the moment." I said. Ya a long moment...
"Well (Y/n), we should get to know eachother better and become good friends," He said with a smile. "Eh?!" I was a bit shocked, this is all sudden, but I should've known better, Eiji is way too good and pure for this world.
"I mean you are such a nice person and I definitely would like to become friends with you, besides you are very likeable so I think you'd fit in with my other friends just fine." he said, the optimism showing in his words.
"Well, ok Eiji, if you say so." I say a bit nervous, I mean id be meeting a lot of new people soon, makes me a bit scared. But hey, you wanted something new and different to happen, here it is. And you can't say no to that face.
"Here lets swap phone numbers so we can talk more outside of your work." He said. We swapped numbers and then waved eachother goodbye, both of us smiling at eachother.
Yup, he is too pure for this sinful world, Bless your soul Eiji.
I entered the library and returned my book, then began my search for a new one. I decided on The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. Its a good realistic book about the Vietnam War and Vietnam war vets, it really makes you think.
We started it in one of my highschool classes, but we were never able to finish it due to the time we had left in the school year, but I still had an interest in hearing the other short stories in the book.
So I checked it out and headed back to my seat when the guy in line before me dropped his book and didnt notice. So I picked it up and went to go return it to him. Nine Stories, a collection of short stories by J.D Salinger. Mainly it was bookmarked at the short story, "A Perfect Day For Banana Fish".
I went up to the man and tapped his shoulder and he turned around. This guy was at the library a lot whenever I came here and he would sit quietly at a table kind of far from other people. I've seen him interact with other patrons and the librarian and library staff before and he seemed nice enough.
As for what he looked like, he was tall, had platinum blonde hair, (admittedly) these beautiful jade green eyes, and wore casual clothing.
I would refer to him internally as a beautiful stranger, but hey I've seen plenty of beautiful strangers in my time, it never really means anything.
"Excuse me but you dropped your book when you were walking away from check-out." I explained. He saw the book in my hand and said with a very small polite smile "Ah, thank you. I must've not noticed."
"Ya, I wouldn't want you to forget it, Salinger is a great author." I said just making polite conversation, I did like his works, honestly. "Indeed he is, I like multiple of his works." he said.
"I especially like his use of clever symbolism in many of his works, 'A Perfect Day for Banana fish is a good example of that. Well I should get to reading my book, I hope you enjoy the rest of your book." I said with a small smile.
"I hope you enjoy yours too...???" he left a silence implying that he was wondering what my name was. "Oh I'm sorry, my name is (Y/n)." I said awkwardly laughing to hide my slight embarrassment.
"Well Thank you, (Y/n), I'm Ash." He said and then went to sit at his table. And I went to go sit at my table.
Ash, that's a nice name. I thought. And I started reading my book.

I went up to my apartment and set down my bag once more and did my usual nighttime routine.
As I sat in bed for a while, I thought of the things that had occurred today.,
Eiji and I oficially became friends today, and will likely become friends with his friends soon, so that's rather exciting, it definitely helps that I genuinely enjoy his presence. And I became acquainted with that guy at the Library Ash, he has a good sense in books and seems nice enough, maybe I should make an effort to become friends with him too..
Ehhh.. I don't know maybe not. I mean maybe eventually, but baby steps (Y/n), baby steps.
Soon I felt myself getting tired and I decided it would best for me to attempt going to sleep. So I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
