You were good friends with Hadvar. Maybe you were best friends, you didn’t know but you were sure about it. But for you, Hadvar was much more than just a friend or a best one.
You’ve lived your whole life in Riverwood, though you hoped to move to Whiterun or Solitude right after you got enough gold. But now you just were living and working in the Sleeping Giant Inn. You didn’t have much gold to even go anywhere and all gold that you owned was enough to buy food and it was good that Delphine let you live in one of the rooms in the inn for free.
You were cleaning outside the inn, when you saw two persons walking to the village from the southwest gate. The other guy looked really familiar and you weren’t believing your own eyes. You ran inside to Delphine, handed the broom to her and ran outside screaming that you'd clean later. She looked after you astonished but put the broom away.
"What came to her?", Orgnar asked. "Who knows..", Delphine answered.
As you ran, you looked behind at the inn, hoping that Delphine wouldn’t come after you angry and screaming something like ‘come back, you’re not done’ or stuff.
Right after you turned your head around, you accidently bumped into someone.
"____?", the person said. That voice.. You looked up and you were shocked.
Hadvar, your greatest friend ever, was standing in front of you. You hadn’t seen him for a long time due to his duties in the Imperial Legion.
"____.. Can.. Can we talk soon? I’ll try to tell you everything but..", Hadvar said. You nodded and walked away, mouth all open because of your friend’s sudden appearance. You sat down on the wooden stairs to the inn and waited.
Soon the other person came out of Hadvar’s uncle’s, Alvor’s, house. The man gave you couple looks, but headed to the road to Whiterun. Soon after this, Hadvar walked out and you stood up. Hadvar rushed up to you and gave you a big, tight hug.
"I’ve missed you, friend..", he whispered to you. "I’ve missed you too..", you said, hugging him back.
You two remained like that for a couple of minutes, but then Hadvar backed off and took your hand. He led you to somewhere quiet.
Hadvar sat on a log which was lying on the grass. As he patted on the log to you to come, you sat next to him. Right as you sat, Hadvar slipped his hand around your waist and you could feel your cheeks heating up.
"It’s been a long time..", Hadvar said, looking at the ground like regretting something.
"Says the man, who left his friend alone, telling nothing to her. Good thing is that I asked your uncle where you disappeared. I really thought that you just left the village and died somewhere in the forests", you said, looking at him, somewhat mad and sad, but still happy that he was alive and here, all right.
"B-but.. If I would've said that I was leaving, you wouldn’t have let me go’’, Hadvar said laughing. You nodded to him.
For a while you were both quiet, just sitting there next to each other, Hadvar’s hand still around your waist. But the silence was broken when Hadvar decided to hurt your feelings more.
"I need to leave to Solitude soon"
"Again?!", you shouted.
"Again.. At least I told you this time", Hadvar laughed nervously, looking at you.
"But that doesn’t help anything, Hadvar. You’re going to kill yourself. And that’s not what I want", you said, your eyes on his. "Well, what is it that you want, dear?", Hadvar asked, a small smile on his face.
"I just want you to stay. I want to spend my time with you. Just like back then, when we were kids", you answered with a serious look. "But we’re not kids anymore, ____. And what is that necklace?", Hadvar asked, pointing to a chain around your neck.
You pulled an amulet of Mara from under your shirt. For first, Hadvar looked like he would have seen a dragon, but then he got a big smile on his face, from ear to the other one.
"You.. You’re available?", Hadvar asked. "Y-yes..", you answered blushing. Hadvar pulled an amulet of Mara from under his armor too.
"Maybe now is the good time to tell that one thing..", he said smiling. "What thing?", you asked.
"I left without saying because I didn’t want you to know that I left because of the Imperial Legion. I knew that you didn’t like that I wandered around, killing Stormcloaks, death always following me. I wanted to tell the truth many times before, but I couldn’t. For so many years I’ve had this feeling towards you. When we were kids and we met for the first time, I wanted that you’d see only me from all the other boys and Ralof. I liked you back then. But now I don’t like you. I love you"
You just kept looking at him, somewhat shocked. For this you weren’t ready, no, not at all.
"H-Hadvar.. I.. I need to tell you that I have feelings for you too. That’s why I didn’t want you to leave. And I don’t want you to die. I’d rather spend the rest of my life with you and your company", you said quietly.
"So.. Say, ____, would you be interested to be with me till the end?", Hadvar asked smiling.
You felt happy. Really, really happy. This was the thing that you truly wanted.
And so you nodded and smiled, like you’ve never smiled before, "More than just interested."
And Hadvar. He thought that you didn’t have any feeling towards him, and it was a big surprise that you did have.
"Hmh, so I guess that your next stop is not Solitude but Riften", you laughed as you rose up from the log. Hadvar laughed after you and scooped you up into his arms.
