***Rylee's POV***

*Beep, Beep, Beep* I slam my hand down onto my alarm clock, and pull myself out of bed. This is my first day back since my parents' death and I know I'm going to be bombarded by questions.

I put on tights, a big sweatshirt, and Uggs. Then, pull my hair up into a messy bun, and only applying a little bit of makeup. I grab my phone and backpack, and walk to the bus. I lost my ride with Summer, since I haven't been at school. The bus pulls up, and I climb one. I get confused and questioning stares from all of the people, making me feel even more uncomfortable. 'I hope this day goes by quickly'.

We reach the school and I step off of the bus, spotting Summer. I walk towards her and she spots me, "Rylee Marie Douglas, you better have a perfect explanation of why you have been ignoring me for the past three days!" I feel tear prick my eyes and run to her, wrapping my arms around her. "M-my p-parents died," I tell her. She hugs me tighter, "I-I'm sorry, I didn't know, you should've called me." I pull away and wipe my eyes, "it's okay, you didn't know." "Well, I'm here for you if you ever need anything," she tells me, slinging an arm across my shoulders. "Thanks," I say.

We walk into the school and to our lockers. When I get to class, I notice that T.J isnt here. 'Hm, weird.' The bell rings and the teacher starts; T.J still isn't here, 'he probably has a hangover'. After forty minutes of class, T.J walks in, his eye black and his lip cut. I hear a couple of gasps around me, from the sight of him. "Sorry I'm late," he tells the teacher. "It's fine, take a seat," my teacher replies. He walks passed me and sits behind me, not making eye contact. "Okay, class, we're going to watch a movie," the teacher states. He turns the lights off and the movie starts. I take that time to turn around, "are you okay?" He looks up at me, "what does it look like?" "Sorry, I just was wondering," I snap. He sighs and runs a hand through his dark hair, "sorry, I just had a rough night." 'Did he just apologize?' "U-uh, it's okay, so what happened anyways?" I reply. He huffs, "it's none of your business, go back to your perfect life, and leave me to my bad one." "You don't know anything, T.J!" I yell, causing everyone to turn and look at us. "Ms. Douglas, care to explain why you are interrupting the movie?" My teacher asks. "I-I u-uh-" "it was my fault, Mr. J, sorry," T.J interrupts me. 'First, he's apologizing and now he's apologizing and taking the blame? Whoever hit him, must have done some good.' "Thank you, Mr. O'Connor, but I'll need to see you after class," Mr. Johnson tells him. T.J nods, and glances at me, but then turns his attention back to the movie.

After class, I wait outside the door for T.J. When he emerges, I walk beside him. "What happened?" I ask. "Detention, after school," he replies shortly. "I'm sorry, I-I'll go talk to him, tell him it's my fault, or-or something, you shouldn't get a detention for me," I state. He stops and faces me, "look, I'll take the detention, I don't give a crap about it, so just leave me alone and forget it ever happened." With that he walks off, leaving me there shocked.

***T.J's POV***

I leave her in the hallway. When she yelled at me in class, it made me even more confused about her. I took up for her because I know when someone's hurting, and that girl is. I just don't know what's causing that hurt. "Hey, T.J!" Jake calls. I turn and see my brother run up next to me. "What?!" I snap. "That girl, Rylee, Elisa found her in the bathroom crying, said a couple cheerleaders hurt her," He tells me. 'What?! I leave that girl for two minutes and she already gets herself into trouble.' "What do you want me to do about it?" I question. He sighs, "whatever you think is right." With that, he walks off. 'Whatever I think is right.'

I walk back in the direction I came, and to the girls bathroom. I make sure no one is looking and walk in. I see Elisa next to Rylee, who is on the floor crying and wet. "Elisa, what happened?" I ask, approaching them. She looks up at me, "I don't know exactly, I just saw a couple of cheerleaders shoving her, and then when I walked in they left, she was wet when I came." I kneel in front of Rylee, "you want to tell me what happened?" Rylee looks up at me with red eyes, "no." I nod and look down, "okay, then, let's get out of here, Elisa go to class." "What?" They ask in unison. "You heard me, go," I repeat. Elisa nods, but whispers to me, "be kind, don't put up walls, maybe you'll help her." I nod, and she leaves. I look back to Rylee, "come on." I offer my hand, she looks at it hesitantly, but then takes it; and I pull her up. "W-where are we going?" She asks. I chuckle, "well, first to get you clothes, the next place is a surprise." I plan to make her open up, one way or another.
