Empty Promises

I stood there watching you leave,

Remembering all the days we spent together

all the promises that we took;  you promising me that

you'd never let go of me, yet here we are....

And now I get it ... Now I understand;  promises are meant to be broken,

and in order for a person to experience love, they must either break a heart

or get their heart broken.
