Backstory: Alex was always close with her brother growing up, though her and her mother always fought which ended in screaming and yelling. Which would commonly involve verbal abuse thrown at the young woman. As she never gave young Alex any attention, and mostly neglecting the young girl at a young age when she wasn't screaming at her daughter. Her father would one day take both Alex and her brother away from the toxic and narcissistic woman, and although she would often find ways of contact to berate Alex.
