&. Late 1985, two months after the battle of Starcourt, and the untimely ends of loved ones; our characters are struggling and the town of Hawkins is in despair. With fear dreaded in every civilian and their fear of lurking creatures in the dark of the night; Hawkins is just not the same colourful town that it used to be.
Amidst of all the grief and chaos, a new mission arises that may help to lift the spirits, unveiled through Murray and Joyce's secret investigations, that imparts a link towards a deeper threat.
With Eleven weakened, and unable to fight alone; the group must attempt to find the remaining subjects to help them defeat the largest villain they'll have to face: The Mind Flayer, in its entirety. Eleven must try and gain back her powers and strength, while trying to deal with the grief of last Summer.
Francis Copperfield's insert into their lives changes them all, including herself, and gives them back the hope they so desperately needed.
