The boy next door

Chapter 1: Kindergarten

"Are you ready for your first day of kindergarten?" My mommy knelt down to button up my jacket.

"All ready" I said as I grabbed my backpack and threw it on my back

Mommy held my hand and we started walking to my first day at kindergarten I was super super excited, but I was really really nervous. I wonder how many new friends I'll make.

I arrive a kindergarten and the other children are playing in the playground, My mom kisses my cheek and leaves.

I see a group of girls on the monkey bars, I run over towards them with the biggest smile on my face.

"Hi, I'm savannah" I say to them

The girls just stare at me up and down before the pretty blonde girl speaks "umm... let's go play on the swings" she runs off and the other girls follow.

I'm very confused why would they run of like that they didn't even talk to me, that wasn't nice.

The teacher comes out and calls us all in everyone follows with there friends but I'm alone.

We all sit down on the rug in front of the teachers desk and she does role call, I try remember everyone's names but i forget by the time she gets to mine.

Everyone plays with their friends so I played alone, I see another boy sitting alone playing with toy cars. I just continue playing with the doll house alone.

After what feels like forever, the day is going by super duper slowly, recess is finally here I follow the other kids back out into the playground. I decide to try find someone who is willing to play with me, everyone looks like they don't need anymore friends.

I look around once more and see the boy again, he's on the swings sitting all alone, maybe I should go talk to him?

I walk over to him and sit on the swing behind me. I just sit there and stare at him until he eventually makes eye contact with me.

"I'm savannah" I say to him

He ignored me, is he just like the other girls?

"What's your name?" I say, maybe he didn't understand what I meant.

"I'm cole" he replied and turned his head away from me

"Nice to meet you cole, what your favourite colour?" I ask

"Blue, what's yours?" He turned towards
me.

"Mines is baby pink" I reply

We start talking about ourselves. Our family, our birthday and even where we live. We were now best friends.
Once recess was over we went inside and we played mommy's and daddy's together with pretend children because no one else would play with us.

Kindergarten was over I was upset because I still wanted to play with cole. We held hands and walked out of kindergarten together. We  saw our parents and ran over to them.

"Mommy, mommy I met a best friend, his name is cole, we're best friends now. come meet him" I say dragging my mom towards cole.

Our parents talk while cole and I play on the seesaw.
Once our parents are done talking mommy holds my hand and we walk home, I tell her everything about kindergarten, not leaving out one detail.
