Odell's POV
"Great work out there today." Coach says patting me on the back. I nod my head head in response and jog to the locker room with the rest of my team.
I take my shoes off and slide my sweatpants on over my shorts. Then, I put on my sweatshirt to match. Last, but not least, I slip my feet into my Nike slides.
As I pack up my extra things into my backpack, my teammate, Jarvis Landry, pats me on the shoulder with a sad look.
"What's up, bruh?" I ask wondering why he is looking at me like my puppy just died.
"Your situation is unfortunate. I thought Serenity was the girl for you for sure." Jarvis says solemnly shaking his head.
"Woah. Where did that come from? Ren and I are perfectly fine." I reply surprised.
"No wedding ring. The guys and I noticed." Jarvis states pointing to my finger.
My eyes go wide when I discover that the ring truly is missing off of my finger.
I don't practice with my ring on, so it has to be in my locker.
"Thanks for looking out Jarvis." I say patting him on his shoulder as he walks back to his locker.
I look in every corner of my locker and there is no ring. As I am internally panicking, the coach walks by talking to his assistant coaches.
"Did you see that throw by Baker our there? That kid has a rocket as an arm." Coach states.
"Yeah, but I had to put my sunglasses on. There was something shiny on the field and the glare from the sun hit me right in the face." The offensive coordinator replies.
"I'll have the athletic trainers scan the field again. I don't want these men to get hurt out there." Coach states walking to his office.
That must be my ring.
I do a fast jog and look at the huge football field ahead of me. My ring could be anywhere, but I have to find it. This might take a while.
Serenity's POV
2 hours laterI just finished making Odell some dinner. Strangely enough, he's not home yet, so I have to put his dinner in the refrigerator.
I grab my plate of spaghetti and meatballs and walk into the living room. I turn on Wild 'n Out and laugh along to all of the jokes.
As I finish my food, I hear the garage door open and close.
I happily get up and run over to Odell.
"Hey baby!" I exclaim giving him a big hug and kiss on his lips.
"Hi Ren." He replies sounding all sad and stuff.
"What happened? You had me here alone and missing you." I say as I follow him to our master bedroom.
"I had to, Uh, it's a long story. I'll tell you after I take a shower." Odell responds and without letting me get a word out he quickly runs into the bathroom and closes the door.
I love that strange man.
Odell's POV
I know that looked extra suspicious, but I need to figure out how I am going to break the news first.
Thinking that a shower would help me get my thoughts together, I was sadly let down when I had not one idea of how to even start.
I dried off my body and put on some grey sweatpants. I began to stall a little in the bathroom not wanting to confront my wife.
"Honey, the shower is off and you've been in there for a while. Is everything alright?" My wife's sweet voice comes from the other side of the bathroom door.
"Uh, Yes, I-uh, um, I had to-uh, moisturize my Achilles' tendon." I rely then I immediately face palm for my stupid response.
"Oh, I see. It took you an hour and 15 minutes to shower then moisturize your Achilles' tendon. Come out when you're ready babe, I just want to talk." Serenity states.
She definitely knows I'm lying. She must know about the ring too if she wants "to talk".
I sigh and open the door to see my world laying on the bed. She perks up when she hears me and holds up a delicious plate of spaghetti and meatballs.
"I warmed it up for you since you came home late tonight. I also got you a big glass of water. Utensils are on the night stand." She says and I smile.
"Thank you. What did you want to talk about?" I ask sitting down on the bed and beginning to eat my dinner.
"Just how your practice was." She responds while walking into our bathroom to pick up my dirty clothes.
"A lot of hard work." I reply simply.
"Yuck. Your clothes do smell like you've been doing a lot of hard work." Serenity says with her cute little laugh.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. You've got jokes." I laugh along with her.
"Anything crazy happen today?" Serenity asks laying down next to me.
This might be the time to gently break the news.
"So, uh, something crazy happened. It is kind of funny when you really think about it, but you have to think about it with an "it's funny" mindset. Baby, like this story, it's hilarious wh-." I get cut off by Ren.
"Spit it out, babe. I'm gonna be asleep by the time you tell me." Ren says.
That would be a preferred outcome.
"Okay, I lost my wedding ring." I blurt and Serenity sits up straight and stares at me.
"I'm so sorry. I had it at practice, but when I got back to the locker room I didn't know where I put it. I checked the whole practice field and that's why I was late. Please don't let this ruin our marriage. I'm so so sorry." Odell pleads and Serenity just stares at me for a little bit, then, out of nowhere, she laughs.
Confusion is an understatement.
Once Ren calms down, she takes the plate from off of my lap and straddles me. Her hands rest on my bare chest.
"Baby boy, if our love was based on a rock, then our relationship would have been pointless. As long as we both know the love between us is real, then a wedding ring is just a perk." She explains and all I can do is kiss her.
"See, that's why I married your sexy, prolific self." I state wrapping my arms around her waist.
"But, that speech would be for if you really lost your ring." Serenity adds as she gets out of my grip and lays next to me on her side of the bed.
"I did, though." I say with confusion washing over me yet again.
"Mmm, not quite." She hums getting up and grabbing my dirty sweatshirt from the hamper.
Serenity reaches in the pocket and pulls out the wedding ring. I immediately face palm and start laughing.
"At some point in time, you managed to put it in your hoodie pocket. I found it after you got out of the shower and grabbed your clothes." She states and she puts the ring back on to my left ring finger.
A big smile is plastered on my face.
"I'm glad you told me though. What would have really made me angry is if you kept it a secret. I don't do well with you hiding stuff." Ren says laying on my chest.
"I know mamas, and I love you Serenity Beckham." I state while kissing her forehead.
"I love you too, hubby." She replies in her sweet voice.
She's right: our love is way more than a silly ring.
