A Place
To be content means to settle. I settled and became lost in toothless smiles and innocent blue eyes.  This place and Amber Louise became my settlement. I watch her as she grows curious of the world around her and how pulling grass out of the dirt creates such amusement to her. Watching her is like watching a film that you already know the ending to. Her innocence is like sand in a hourglass. Slowly falling to the bottom. Soon her crawling will turn into wobbly steps and her holding my hand will turn into closed doors as reality sinks in of what lingers outside of this perfect green lawn and bright flower beds. Her hat falls off, letting her sweet milky skin become exposed and she lets out a wail, knowing I'll come to the rescue to cover her again.
