- Link's POV -

We rode fast as we entered Kakariko once again, we dismounted and headed up the stairs and entered Impa's house again...

"Good, you got Purah's message, ah Princess Zelda, I'm sorry could you excuse us please?" Impa said but I sharply responded,
"I told her everything." I said
"Oh, did you now? Very well, I have found the answer to what you've been looking for, but alas, there's no easy way to tell you..."
Zelda was on the verge of tearing up,
"Link isn't going to die is he?"
After a long pause, Impa answered...

"No, something much more drastic..." She said, I swallowed hard...

"Thousands of years ago, when the civilisation of the ancient Sheikah tribe ruled Hyrule, they wanted to use the wisdom of Goddess Hylia to aid them in their battle against the calamity, they prayed for advice, and she gave the advice to the one with who wielded the sword that seals the darkness..."
I looked down and grasped my sword...

"The aid of Goddess Hylia inspired many inventions like the Guardians and the Divine Beasts, but she also warned to the hero that if they seal Ganon away for the final time, the one who seals it away with the sword will be granted by Ganon...... a curse..."
"So what your saying is, is that Ganon is gone forever...?" Zelda asked,
"It looks that way but there's no certainty... Anyway they recorded this information in case that their victory would not be Ganon's defeat, which is what ended up happening and when you told me to find information, I looked through many sacred texts until I found that one... I know what's happened to you Link... Do you wish to know?"
"I don't think I have a choice..."

"I'm sorry Link, but you have turned into a once mythical ancient creature known as a vampire... A humanoid creature that feasts on blood, especially human, with the unique ability to turn others into a vampire as you wish... And also as a vampire... You are now immortal, you do not age but can be killed, but you don't die naturally..."

I won't die, I'll stay like this forever...

I could see Zelda with a look of shock on her face, hands covering up her mouth and nose...

"And I feed upon human blood...?" I asked
"Yes, lack of doing so could make you lose control and crave it..." Impa explained...

"Then I'm not safe to be around..." I say,
"Link! That's not true!" Zelda argued.

"Yes Zelda, it is... I... I can't protect you from myself..."

After all the pain, effort and trial I went through... This... This is supposed to be my reward...?

"It's okay.... can't Link just... maybe feed on animal blood?" Zelda asked

"That could work, but there's one problem..." Impa said.
"What?" I ask
"Well you see, like curtain animals, vampires have instincts of finding a mate, which is usually a human that they would turn into a vampire themselves, if Link finds a mate, he would not be able to stop himself from wanting the mate's blood, it's special to him and him alone..."

Out of nowhere, my head spins, I groan out as my stomach bursts into pain...
"Link!" I hear Zelda shout,
And soon I smell something so sweet, like soft strawberry, at first I thought it would comfort me, but it went on to drive me mad... I realised deep down inside...

That my worst fear just came true...

I got up quickly, busting out the door, almost falling down the stairs, and jumping on my horse, before getting out of Kakariko as fast as I could, just to here Zelda call my name far behind in the distance...
