Here is a pic of Nick to brighten up your day

You know what's worse than finding out that your apartment mate is your childhood bully? Having dinner with both his family and your family, while no one has any idea that he used to make your life living hell. Scratch that used to, he still is making my life living hell.
Since both of us don't have anything that can be turned into something eatable anywhere in our apartment, our moms decided that we should get some dinner at a restaurant which everyone, except Nick and I, agree. But they dragged us anyway. At first I really want to complain but then my brother shoot an 'I know that you don't like this but please just agree with it' kind of look. So here we are at a boujee looking restaurant in Soho, the area I rarely went to except someone decide to take me there.
The waiter already take our orders and here comes the moment I dread the most, the moment people try to be interested in whatever happens in your life for the sake of breaking the ice. "So, did you guys go to the same college?" My mom asked Nick.
"Mom, you've asked that already." I whined. Like seriously, it's probably the fifth times she asked about it.
"I'm sorry, my bad." She rolled her eyes and hold her hands in surrender.
"What are you guys plan for New Year's Eve?" My brother tried to cut off the tension in the room. Thank god he didn't ask something weird for once.
"I'm off to London for a business trip." Chris answered.
"I'm going to visit my girlfriend family in San Fran." Rob, who I just found out the name, butted in. "What about you guys?"
"We're going to Disney World." My brother chuckled as he smiles down at Aubrey. They're way too cute.
"Are we?" Aubrey looked at him in confusion.
"Nah we're not." My brother burst into laughter. "To be honest, I don't know, probably stays in Cali." His sentence made Aubrey pouted.
"Ah kids, when they're all grown up, they have their own businesses aren't they?" Nick's mom said to my mom which makes my mom nods in agreement.
"Hey Debbie, you should come spend New Year's Eve with us in our house." My mon offered. "Maybe Nick can come too, I'm sure Adeline will be fine with it." Yeah, no. That's a bad idea mom, the worst I might say. Too bad, I never told my mom who was my bully back in the days, because I knew what she's capable of doing. She can make Nick get expelled.
"That's a great idea! But sadly Nick won't be back to Jersey for New Year's Eve, but I'll make sure to come." Deborah is such a nice woman, not like his son.
"Oh I forgot to tell you, ma. I'll be spending New Year here with my friends from college." I said, remembering Edwin's plan on taking all of us to Times Square to see the ball drop. All of us excluding Nick. So I'm excited about it.
"Then maybe, we should spend our New Year's Eve here! I'm sure your father wouldn't mind." My mom stated in excitement.
"Mom, don't push it. Let Adeline live a little. I'm also sure dad would mind, you know how it is when it comes to business events." Even though sometimes I hate Ava, she knows when to butted in and save my ass. Also yeah, my dad will definitely mind because every year he always host a New Year's Eve party in our house, inviting all his business partners and colleagues and even his employees, it has to be perfect and must be done.
"Okay fine, I just wish we could spent some holidays together." My mom looked defeated. I know exactly what she feels.
When we moved to Jersey back then, my father starts to work harder to get a better life for us since they both used to struggle when they start the marriage life. Then it gets better when my brother comes, then my father realized that he needs to step up his game if he want to afford the life he wanted his kids to have. So he starts to work hard, I rarely see him. Only on weekends we got a chance to get together. He stopped working for the company he used to work in, when my sister was about 5 years old and by that he already 5 years starting a business by himself. Now, he got some businesses here and there, mostly real estate.
