Chapter Twenty: Goodbye

Mitsuko pushed away from Takeru. He grabbed her wrist. 

"Wait, where are you going?"He asked as she had stood up and turned to leave the shaking gym. She looked back down at him. 

"I have to go! We have to save Balder, even if he's turned into someone we don't know anymore,"Mitsuko told him. His eyes went wide. She pulled from his grasp and turned, running. Takeru scrambled up, running after her. He caught her wrist again. 

"Wait, Mitsuko!"

"No!"

She struggled and pulled from him. 

"It's too dangerous!"Takeru hissed at her. Mitsuko froze. She looked back at him in surprise. He squeezed her wrist in his hand. "You can't go out there...it's too dangerous! You could get hurt on whatever this mad mission of yours is." Mitsuko stared at him. 

"You can't always keep me safe, Takeru!" Takeru stiffened. He gave her a hard look. Mitsuko gave him a stubborn scowl back. "You can't box me up, I'm not a doll and I'm not a bird. I'm going to get myself hurt either way, especially if you don't let me do what needs to be done!" Takeru stared at her hard. Mitsuko looked down. "I know you love me. I know I love you. Even if that's true...Takeru, you can't protect me from everything." She looked up at him. "We all promised to graduate together...to get out of this garden, regardless if that means that we get separated for a little bit, with you in one world and I in another. Balder...Balder was one of the people who made that promise!" 

"I have to save him even if that means I die in the process!" Takeru jolted. He stared at her. She tore her wrist from his grip as he stood there in shock. Mitsuko turned and took off running, breathing hard. Takeru's eyes never left her back. He sighed and shook his head. Damn. I have to go with her! He thought. He took off. As they raced down the hallway and out of the school building, when they rounded a corner, Mitsuko barreled into Eri. The two girls crashed to the ground, rolling. 

"Owwww,"Mitsuko moaned. 

"Ugh, what the hell?!"Eri hissed. Takeru and Tsukito both helped the girls up. Mitsuko sent Eri an annoyed look. "The hell did you do that for?!"

"Well, why the hell weren't you watching where you were going?"Mitsuko retorted. Eri grumbled at her. Takeru and Tsukito exchanged looks. Mitsuko sighed. "We need to go save Balder." Eri pointed at a bright light in the air. Mitsuko turned. Her eyes went wide at what she saw. 

"That's him."

Hiromi turned back to the light. She noticed Loki falling. She released her hold on the light and they sped up, Thor and Apollon dodging the quicker bolts of light that shot at them. "SLOW!" Loki slowed down as he was falling, landing on the sand gentler. Hiromi breathed hard. This is a lot of work, she thought. She turned back to the light, holding her hands out at it again. "SLOW!" The lights slowed down again. She suddenly watched in horror as a light stream headed directly for him while he was down. She tried to release her command but couldn't as the power increased. "LOKI!"

Takeru and Tsukito surprised everyone by quickly grabbing him and jumping away from the light stream. Hiromi blinked as she stared down, spotting Eri and Mitsuko running up.

"You shouldn't have saved me...there's nothing we can do!"Loki grumbled. Takeru glared at him. He picked him up by the collar.

"Don't give me that crap! Why are you giving up?!"Takeru shouted. He tightened his grip on Loki's clothes. "We want to save Balder too! Put more faith in us...BELIEVE IN US!" Takeru gazed at Loki hard. Loki's eyes went wide as he stared at Takeru in front of him. Tsukito was standing beside them.
