"Matthias Good, open your eyes."

He would do anything that voice asked him to do, but that didn't mean he couldn't be difficult about it.

"Lightning."

"What?"

"Matthias Lightning. I'm a Lightning, not a Good."

"Fine, open your eyes Matthias Lightning."

"Kiss me, and I will." He said twitching up one corner of his mouth.

"If you can make jokes, I assume you're feeling better?" Becca asked

Matty pouted. "I feel like there's a beautiful woman on my lap who refuses to grant a dying man his last request."

"You're fine." He just knew she was rolling her eyes at him.

"I'm not fine. I've gone blind." He said, grinning. "My eyes won't work at all."

She huffed a sigh and pressed her lips to his.

He wrapped his arms around her, laughing he kissed her in return. When she pulled back, he opened his eyes.

"I should like, very much, to wake up like that every day." He told her pushing her curtain of hair back behind her ear. "You're so beautiful."

She blushed.

"I healed your heart." she said."I know Phoebe wanted to let it heal on its own, but you were being, difficult."

"Don't blame me. You're the one that makes my heart gallop."

Becca rolled her eyes.

He smiled and kissed her again. Taking her hand, he placed it on his bare chest, over his heart.

"See? Feel. You did that."

"Sarah is going to come looking for us soon. We've been here a long time."

"Forget Sarah."

"My papa is out there with her."

Matty frowned. "You really know how to crush a man."

She reached behind her on the bed and picked up his knife.

"Bond with me then. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn't be able to undo that. I'm the only one who can absolve the bond."

"You'd better not." He said kissing her again.

She pulled back, pressing the tip of the blade into the pad of her thumb until blood welled up. Holding her thumb out so it wouldn't drip she handed the knife to Matty who pierced his own thumb.

"Do you swear to protect and serve me, as your Den Mother?"

"I swear." Matty said, solemnly.

"Then I swear to heed your advice, for the good of the pack, and myself." Becca said, "In blood our bond be sealed."

Matty recognized that last bit, it was a common line in blood bound magic.

"In blood our bond be sealed." He echoed taking her thumb in his mouth he sucked the blood off her thumb, her magic, and something else, hound magic he assumed, flooded his body chasing the coppery taste of her blood down his throat.

"This may sting a bit." She warned him too little, too late.

His muscles thrummed, as old craft washed through him. There was an intense pressure in his eyes and nose. He scrunched up his face in reaction to the pain. It didn't last long though, and when it was done he noticed that he could smell everything.
