I didn't stop running.
I continued to run until my legs began to burn and I didn't look back.
My entire life was now on a timer, and I had no idea how much time I had left.
But first, I had to get to safety, I might be already bit, but I wasn't going to die by getting torn apart by them.
I did my best not to think about it, but a small part of my mind kept flying back to my inevitable death.
I soon then decided I had run far enough and leaned back against a tree as I caught my breath.
My hair was free as I had lost my cap just a few moments ago and I wasn't going to go racing back for it.
A tear slipped out as I processed that I would never see him again.
My eye widened when I realized I would be the death of my baby and I.
I rested my hand on my stomach as I screwed my eyes shut, knowing I failed everyone once more.
I heard a muertos growl a few feet away and I sighed as I pushed myself off the tree, deciding not to waste the energy in taking it down and began to run once more.
Eventually, the sun began to set, and I knew I didn't have much daylight left.
I had to look for shelter, somewhere I could go peacefully.
It was about half an hour in, and my body got heavier every minute. I could tell I was growing a fever as I struggled to breath.
I slowed from my run and soon I was walking, keeping an eye out for any cabins.
As I continued to walk, my mind kept flying to him over and over again.
I'd never see Daryl again, I'd never tell I loved him one more time.
I wish I could run up to him and bring him into my arms, to feel his warm lips against mine.
My hand flies over to my rabbits foot necklace as the memory of me getting bit plays in my mind.
Sophia, Lee.
Both the names of important people in my life I'd never see along with Daryl.
Sophia would lose her mother once more.
Lee would lose his daughter again, except this time, there would be no reuinion down the road.
I closed my eyes as I continued walking, refusing to completely break in the middle of the forest.
I heard a muerto once more to the right of me and I ignored it for a few seconds, as I did my best ot regain my composure, and opened my eyes.
I gasped when it was much closer than I anticipated and hurridly sent an arrow through its skull.
I sighed as then recollected the arrow, putting my bow over my shoulder.
It was one of my last few, I wasn't going to waste any.
I continued to walk and I soon spotted a small cottage down the road.
I breathed out in relief as I brought my bow off my shoulder and aimed it high as I kicked the door open.
About 3 muertos turned to look at me and I narrowed my eyes as I sent my remaining two arrows into two of them.
A growl eruptes from beside the house and my eyes move over to spot four more muertos break the treeline and limp towards me.
"Fuck," I scowled as I quickly sent my knife into the muerto in the house before turning to focus on the other four.
I gasped when I turned around and all four were at the doorway.
