everyone thinks
that being slim
equals being happy
but have you ever thought
of the pressure
that comes with having
a socially acceptable physique?
the idea that,
because she is a size two,
she is perfect
there is nothing
more condemning
than the label
of perfection
that size two
has become a noose
around her throat
she strives to fit
into that horrid size two,
because society has decided
that she must
because there is something
very disturbing, and also very compelling,
about being perfect
you're so skinny
does not always mean
you must be so happy;
the two have no correlation
so let her grow a little,
let her fall back
onto a size four
because no matter
whether she is a two or a four,
or a fucking twenty-eight,
she is beautiful
