F I V E

"I like your boobs, Star."
————————————————

Blackness
Vega started to fall out of consciousness when her body was flung back up to the surface
The sudden felling of air strikes Vega
She began to choke and spit up water
Arms wrapped around her waist and she jumped in surprise
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It's my fault! I shouldn't have done that! I'm so sorry Star!" As soon she heard the nickname she felt safe
She hugged Richie back, smiling that he saved her and that she could finally hold the boy she longed for
"It's okay, Tozier." She nuzzled her head into his neck
"No, no it's not." He looked at her
She waited but it never came
She gave a sad look and loosened her grip
"Should we g-get out now?" Bill asked
-
Beverly laid on her back, nodding her head to Bust A Move on the boombox
Four out of five of the boys stared at her body
Beverly definitely felt the stares but ignored it
Richie stared at the pacing girl, a face of confusion was on her face
She didn't like the song
"What's the point of this song? It's weird." She said to Richie when they first started to play it
"It's a good song, you'll see." He smiled
She, however, did not see. She absolutely hated it
Richie got up and walked to her
"I should play some better music for you when we get back to the house." He says
"As long as it's not this shit." She huffs
Beverly sat up and looked at the other in which they looked in different directions, pretending they weren't staring at her chest
Richie and Vega walked back to rocks, sitting side by side
The raven stared out into the blue sky, head on her crushes shoulder
"NEWS FLASH Ben. Schools out for summer!" Richie says, in a horrible accent, as he shuffles through Bens backpack
"It's not for school." Ben said quietly
"Who sent you this?" Richie pulled out a postcard, getting it grabbed right back by Ben
"Nobody! No one."
"What's with the history project?" Eddie asks, looking through a folder that Richie handed him
Richie gently elbowed Vega
"Hey, wanna see some stuff?"
"Sure. Wait-is this going to be something dirty?"
He chuckled, handing her a folder
"No, unless you want it to be." He winked
She rolled her eyes and grabbed the first paper out of the folder
She had the folder that held the missing kid posters, including her brother but she never reached it
"Well, when I moved here, I didn't have anybody to hang out with...so I started to spend time at the library." Ben explained
"You went to the library? On purpose?" Richie said
"The library's amazing, Tozier. Stop being an asshole." Vega still chuckled at his sentence, she never looked up from the folder
"I want to see!" Beverly finally got up and sat beside Bill
"What's the Black Spot?" Eddie asked
"It was a night club that caught on fire...by a racist cult."
"Your hair..." Bill started but then just stared
Vega looked up in confusion, was he going to finish?
Beverly looked into Bills eyes, waiting for him to finish
"Your hair looks beautiful, Beverly." Ben says
Beverly broke eye contact with Bill and thanked him, pulling a piece of her hair behind her ear
Awkward silence struck the group
"I like your boobs, Star." Richie compliments, breaking the silence
Vegas eyes grew and she shot her head toward the boy
"What!!" She overreacted
Richie looked over like he didn't say something like that
"What? It's true."
She jumped up and moved beside Beverly, she was extremely uncomfortable
"Fuck, I messed it up." Richie whispered to himself

The blush on Vega's face stayed all the way to Ben's
Vega was very scared of how obsessed Ben was
She put her finger on the articles and moved through them all, stopping on a missing poster
