The siren wailed persistently as the greenie arrived. "With all the trouble these shanks cause us," Thomas muttered under his breath, "you would think that they could be a little less loud." Nevertheless, he began the grueling walk from the kitchen to the box. He had already had to run twice today, and felt he was about to collapse from the relentless sun beating down on him. He hated to introduce greenies when he looked like this. He was hot, and sweaty, and too dirty to look of any importance. He felt it left a bad impression, like he didn't care. And the truth was, that he did care. He cared about all of the gladers. Ever since he first entered the daunting maze that they were trapped inside, he had spent every second looking for the way out.
