It had beed 3 moons since Briarlight came to my den, and, to tell you the truth, she's pretty helpful. But, er, there might be more to me enjoying her company, she's really, really nice. And she's... she's in heat.
"Jayfeather?" That was Brightheart, she took Briarlight out to collect cat mint and dandelion, we were running low.
"Come in Brightheart, Briarlight as well."
Ah, Briarlight... he had walked in her dreams once, of course she thought he was a figment of her dream, and discovered she liked him. She was a beautiful cat.
They found plenty of dandelion, some juniper berries, and few cat mint, for it is quite a rare herb. She's a warrior, not my apprentice, so she can have a mate and kits. A purr rose in my throat when Brightheart's pawsteps faded away and Briarlight's sweet scent wreathed around him.
"Hello, Briarlight."
"Hi, Jayfeather."
There was a pause as she sorted herbs.
"Briarlight, I need to ask you something, follow me, please." She paused for a brief moment, then followed him into the part of the den where he slept.
"Briarlight, will you be my mate?"
