The New Day

The Wheeler Family was the stereotypical 'perfect' family as others believed, when in fact they weren't, outside they seemed liked a decent family but when they were inside the house they all seemed to be strangers to each other

Two parents who didn't seem to even love each other

An older daughter who acted as though she didn't care

And a son who acted tough on the outside

The house was silent throughout the summer. Nobody dared to do small talk to each other, they didn't even know when was the last time they had a vacation with each other, or when was the last time they sat in the same room that didn't involve breakfast or dinner

They were completely total strangers

"Micheal wheeler! Fix your hair"Karen, a slightly tall woman with blonde curled up hair and a face covered with ounces of makeup, hissed at her son

"Mom..."Micheal, a black-curly haired boy with freckles dotted in his pale face, whined at his Mother who was looking at him with a stone-cold look. "I tried, it just won't stay down"he added

"Well, try harder! It's your first day of school! We don't want the neighbors to think we're reckless"She screeched, leaving her sons room

"Nance!"he called our for his sister, a girl who was in the 4th grade came in, she had short brown hair and was wearing a nice pink dress, in her hand was a brush. "Here, before mom goes nuts again"she scoffed. Throwing the hairbrush at him

Mike barely catching the brush, nodded at his sister and began to desperately try to fix the curly black mop that sat on his head

Nancy left and her fading footsteps could be heard

Mike had given a heavy sigh and putted the brush down on top of his drawer, quickly walking downstairs to the living room, his father sat reading the newspaper like always and his mother fixing the food, whilst his sister Nancy fiddled with her fingers underneath the table

"Mike, hun, sit down and eat or you'll be late"His mother softly smiled at him, it was a rare occasion but Mike treasured it with all his heart

If someone were to ask which parent was the best he'd respond with his mom as an answer. His father didn't care much for him nor did he care for anyone in the family, all he cared was his job and his self

"Mom"mike called out, picking up his fork

"Yes, Mikey?"

"Will people like me...?"he asked, softly, Karen's eyes softened at her sons words. "Ofcourse! Maybe even the girls will like you most"she laughed, putting pancakes on his plate

Mike smiled at the encouraging words of his mother; grabbing the butter and spreading it in his pancake using the butter knife, he grabbed the syrup and poured it on them

"Mike. Be careful, don't wanna ruin your new shirt"Karen warned

Mike nodded and began wolfing down the two stacked pancakes in front of him, Nancy looked at his brother and sighed whilst shaking her head. Karen pursed her lips and raised a brow at his son

"Hungry, huh?"

Mike had just given a hum in response. The wheelers began to have their breakfast in silence once again, awaiting for the new day
