It's 11 p.m.

While most are tucked away in their beds,

I'm here stuck in my head.

Endless notes pounding in my brain.

The note heads strangle my thoughts like a chain.

"Quiet!" The girl yelps.

She slams her hands against her ears.

The melodies became one of her fears.

However, there was only one way to help.

The girl climbed out from bed.

Her roommate was snoring up ahead.

The wood floor creaked as she tiptoed to her desk.

Perhaps tonight was it.

The girl reached for her staff paper and pencil.

Her desk lamp flickered on.

And away they went into the familiar unknown.

The melodies began to show.

She scribbled across the page in the dark.

The penciled notes were meticulously place.

The girl hoped they sounded great.

The flicker of the lamp turned off as she yawned.

It was now 5 a.m.

The night was gone.

However, the melody now written down,

Was permanent.

She could only hope it was to her professor's taste.

Otherwise she let sleep go to waste.

She brewed her cup of tea and sighed

As she gazed out her window and watched the sun.

Music was more than just fun.
