Chapter Twenty

Waking up the next morning with a big smile on my face as the memories from the previous night flashed through my mind. Turning my head slightly my heart swelled at how peaceful and cute he looked.

“Morning Mrs Marz” Damon greeted sleepily. Blushing slightly at being caught staring at him. I replied “Morning Mr Marz”. Destiny picked that moment then to make her self-known. Damon leaped out of the bed and scooped her up before bringing her back to our bed.

Lying in between us Destiny started babbling and giving both of us one of her most heart melting smiles. “Hey princess” I cooed before placing a soft gentle kiss to her cheek.

Damon and I just laid there staring at a very active and babbling Destiny. “She is growing up so quickly,” I said while leaving out a heavy sigh. “I know, but hey at least now we can start making a little brother or sister for Destiny.” he said wiggling his eyebrows.

Laughing, I slapped his bare chest. Damon sent me a playful scowl.  Destiny was waving her arms about which also managed to hit Damon in the chest making me laugh even harder. Lying here with my family felt so perfect. It was as if my past didn’t even exist. The love the three of us held was unbreakable. “Come on lets go get some breakfast then we can have a proper look around our new home.” Damon shouted back as he headed towards the bathroom.

Six months had past since we had moved into our house and I have to say it’s as if I’m living a dream. Damon is still in the police force only he is now the chief of our village’s police force. Destiny is walking now and a complete hand full but I’m loving every minute.

My legs are starting to get some feelings and strength but not as much as I would have liked. Don’t get me wrong I am grateful, very grateful. As there are so many out there, that will never have the ability to walk again.

I was even told that my progress shows that there is a strong chance that one day I will be able to walk again. Although I was ecstatic with this news, I just wanted to know when. It never used to bother me as much as it has lately. Since Destiny started walking, I just want to be able to take her for walks, kick her a ball. I just want to be like all the other mothers.

Today Damon was finishing early so we could all go for a picnic at the park. All morning I have spent in the kitchen getting the food ready. As some of our friends that we have met are coming too, we had arranged to meet at the park. One of Damon’s officers Joe that he is close to reminds me a lot of Lee.

His wife Veronica though she is the total opposite of Cherelle. Although she has this stern hardness about her, almost reminds me of when I used to build up walls to block my feelings. Sometimes it makes me wonder what has caused her to build them up in the first place.

Hearing the front door opening and little feet running towards the front door snapped me away from my thoughts. “Dada” I heard Destiny calling as I made my way into the hallway. Her arms where reaching up to Damon as she bounced up and down excitedly. Watching Damon as he scooped her up and swung her around was a sight I would never get tired of. Snuggling Destiny into his chest for a cuddle her giggles could be heard throughout the house.

Placing Destiny back down onto the floor Damon came running up to me. Holding onto the handles Damon tipped my chair onto two wheels as he started to spin me around. He was making me giggle just as he had done to Destiny only moments ago. Feeling dizzy, I was glad when he eventually stopped. Leaning down he placed a kiss upon my lips stopping me from laughing. The feeling of his lips against mine took me to places that where indescribable.

Breaking away from our kiss, Damon and Destiny were staring up at me with that same warm smile. There was no way on earth any body could say they weren’t blood related as they where the image of each other. Placing his hand gently on my slightly swollen stomach, yes I’m six months pregnant he then placed a kiss to our unborn baby. The love he gave us every day always seemed to amaze me, as each day felt exactly like the first.
