Blood Bound

A cold chill races down my neck as I stare at the thick needle thrust into my arm filled with a strange liquid, the color a dark brown almost the color of earth. The thought doesn't settle my nerves and the deep fear in my bones. Tears gather once again as I watch helplessly as the man, dressed in all black, plunges the liquid into my vein and in an instant ignites flames and shivers all over my slim form.

I can feel my bones chattering, my blood in flames, eyes burning and shifting from one shade to another, as if I can see it all. How long have I been here? Two months? Two years? Two decades? I didn't know. Everything had blurred together at one point leaving me completely unhinged and unfocused on what is real and what isn't.

"Don't worry my little flower, you are our most resilient one. You'll do great." The familiar ominous voice whispers, the whisper sounding too loud in my own ears. I hiss, as a  foreign yet familiar feeling floods my stomach. I clump my lips shut only for me to reopen them as sharp protruding foreign fangs tear through the chapped and also smooth surface of my lips. I taste the metallic taste of my blood. The feeling doesn't last because the next minute I run my tongue over my lips, the gush is gone.

"Your fangs are already out. That's good news!" I hear the grin in his voice and my eyes snap open to meet the familiar face, his eyes a shade I have never seen in human eyes before. Fear clutches my heart in it's grasp as I recall all the things he has made me go through, the pain, the tears, the grief, the torment.

I see his nose twitch as my scent flood the room, the potent scent of fear churning at the pits of my stomach making me overly dizzy and almost passing out. I can smell my own fear and that creates even more fear.

"Ah fear, my favorite scent." He taunts, a grin forming on his mouth, displaying his teeth, that are as perfect as his outer appearance.

I didn't get to dwell on it before pain I have never felt before, and I have felt pain--so much of it, consumes my being. I swallow, hoping the pain would recede but a loud scream comes rushing out of mouth causing my own ears to ring.

"What is happening to her?" The man inquires as a blonde lady with brown eyes and a small mole on the left side of her mouth, dressed in a long white lab coat rushes over towards me.

My blood floods my mouth making me choke. Every part of me feels as if I'm being shattered from the inside out. My eyes feel as if they are being plucked out of their sockets. My fist clench and as claws extend from the soft tissue of my finger tips and rip the palm of my hands.

"She's rejecting the new formulae. She isn't going to make it." She declares, her eyes growing pale as she stares at the blood dripping down the corner of my mouth, nose and ears. A shiver racks through me as more blood floods my nose and mouth, the metallic taste too familiar and too foreign at the same time.

"We are losing her!" The words ring in my ears in a repetitive manner until I cannot tell when it began and when it ended. My body grows still as new and unrelenting shivers take form in my body, froth forming in my mouth mixing with the blood and I choke.

"She's having a seizure!" It's the last thing I hear before I'm completely drawn in by the darkness, praying it will be my last.

The loud pounding of the door knocks me out of the vivid memory slash nightmare and I scramble out of bed, almost tumbling to the floor. My eyes open and I can almost see they are a vivid hypnotic shade now. A burning white, completely and utterly different from the dark brown that is the color of my eyes sometimes. I rush to the bathroom splashing cold water on my face and glare up at the mirror. My eyes meet my hypnotic white eyes, the only black part being my dilating pupils as they adjust to the brightness of the small bathroom.
