(Short) King's Day Off

It's not too different, Hero work and normal work I mean. One thing that they thankfully have in common are legally required breaks. S-Class Heroes have such days off, a nice vacation every now and then from the constant Monster fighting. Today, King and Kaito agreed to meet up at a nearby diner for lunch, as well as the 125th rematch, since they both took some time off at the same time. Kaito was running a few minutes late, so it was just him.

But little did King know, everyone else in the diner were undercover assassins, waiting for their moment. The second they had the opportunity, they would kill the Hero where he stood...I meant sat.

(Assassin)"He's been typing on that computer for a while now. Is he sending a message? Or maybe researching something? Doesn't matter, the five of us are the best team of assassins money can buy. We even thought ahead and got another guy to block the entrance, so no matter what King tries, he'll-"

(King)"...So, you have all gathered here. But just know, that no matter how many allies you may have, not even a thousand men combined could last a minute against me..."

(Assassin)"H-Huh?"

(King)"You may attack whenever you're ready, but the second you do so, you won't even have time to register your deaths..."

(Assassin)"He...he already knows?! Is it possible that he realized that everyone else in this room is an assassin, or does he think just a few are? If he doesn't want to harm any bystanders, then it works to our advantage."

What they didn't realize is that what Kings said (to himself) was part of the script he was writing on his laptop for a game he and Kaito were making. A moment later, he got up from his seat.

(Assassin)"He's on the move! And with no hesitation, either!"

He went over to the soda machine for a refill, but it appeared to be empty, so he decided to tell the woman at the register.

(King)"Excuse me, I think your soda machine is empty."

(Waitress)"Oh, sorry about that. I'll get you a drink in the back."

She took his cup into the kitchen.

(Assassin)"I get it! He sent here back so she won't be involved! He must be ready to attack!!"

The man gave the signal to everyone else, and they slowly walked towards the Hero, back still turned. You can only imagine the horror they felt when King turned around, just as the leader was taking out his firearm. They all just stood there for a minute, staring at each other in total silence.

(Assassin)"Shit! What's he getting ready for?? He's probably already thought of an efficient maneuver to take us all out in one attack!"

(King)"Hm, they must be fans, looks like he was about to ask for an autograph, too..."

(Assassin)"Dammnit! It's now or never!!!"

He was just mere moments from unleashing his pistol, but the Hero grabbed ahold of the assassin's left arm, still looking at him with that stare, a stare that even Monsters turn themselves in after seeing.

(King)"..."

(Assassin)"That's it. I'm a dead man, I can hear... I can hear the King's Engine...!"

It was an oddity no one could explain, the King had a heartbeat so powerful it's said you can hear it whenever he's about to attack. None have seen this outcome however, as most criminals, even Monsters surrendered upon hearing this.

(King)"...Listen, I know who you are."

(Assassin)"H-Huh?!"

(King)" I understand what you're feeling right now. Listen, I'm on my day off, and I'd hate to get this place crowded up, but one of these days I can give you what you guys wanted."

(Assassin)"O....Ok....?"

(King)"Whew, that was easy!"

Seeing their opportunity to escape, the men rushed out the front door. King thought they acted a bit too strange, even for fans. Still, good ol nerves gets the better of everyone in some way.

(This took me for literal ever just to do this thing, damn I'm slow.)
