JOHNNY STOPPED in front of a gas station. the rain outside was falling heavily. she quickly unbuckled her seatbelts and said, "i'm gonna get us some sodas."
when she left, johnny had felt an empty feeling in his heart. he knew she wouldn't be gone for long but still, it had felt like he had lost her. johnny had already lost one important woman in his life. his sister, lauren. and he wasn't going to let anyone take kenzie away from him.
he began filling the car with gas. when it was full, he walked outside and he was soaking within three seconds. he quickly ran inside and payed. kenzie stood, leaning on the wall.
"hey," he said approaching her. "you good?"
"hm?" she quickly hummed before responding. "oh, yeah! i'm fine."
"you sure?" he asked once more.
"johnny, really," she started. "i'm fine." she began to walk away but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
"kenzie," he said. "if this is about what happened with the cops—"
"just forget it, john," she told him. kenzie pushed past him and ran outside.
he ran after her and pushed her onto the car, causing her to cry in pain. "i'm so sorry!" he gasped. "are you okay?"
"i'm fine, johnny!" she said. "really."
"kenz, can we talk?" johnny asked. "please?"
"fine," she told him sternly. she moved her hands gesturing. "go on."
"kenz, i really like you," johnny started. "and i've never felt this way about any girl. look, i know that you may be mad about what happened with jack and you were scared that it would happen with me as well. but please kenz, i'm not like jack. i love you."
mackenzie smiled softly, her cheeks becoming a deep shade of red. "johnny, i think i like you," she told him.
he smiled before pushing a baby hair behind her ear. "i think i like you too, kenzie." this time, the kiss was filled with more passion than the first one. it was filled with hunger. both teens knew how much they needed each other. and maybe this was their chance to let go of their dark pasts. they were meant to find each other. they were meant to be.
