Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king's horses
And all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty
Together again

MEANING:

The version we know today was first printed in 1810. Some people believe it refers to the average village drunkard and others believe it's in reference to King Richard III of England. He was portrayed as having a humpback but this is just speculation.

The story says that King Richard III went to war at the Battle of Bosworth where he fell off of his horse (the wall) and was chopped into pieces by his rivals. There really is no direct evidence as to where history places this simple little quatrain, but there are a number of other theories as well.
