our summer

when the sun was at its climax,
you and i met.
it was right after i wore a graduation cap,
when you talked to me and said.
"what bliss it is to meet you,
for we share the same sky."
the look in your eye was new,
but it told me not a single lie.
summer days, my favorite
sitting by a pc, eyes on the lcd
we would talk and talk for hours,
but it was never boring,
t'was also summer when our hearts were unfolded,
you and i had a mutual fling.
i still remember the day you said,
"i like you." though now it stings.
it stings, for some reason.
it hurts, it stings.
all the summer days will be empty,
since you and i blew off the fling.
or maybe i did, just so.
it gave me a deep sense of remorse.
my heart grew unsteadily,
cold, hollow, and coarse.
