Back in the 1970's mi abuelo had one of the biggest gangs in Los Angeles, Los Asesinos. He wasn't one to be messed with, he never backed down, and he never got bossed around. That's until he met mi abuela.

He had a soft spot for her.
She was independent and didn't take shit from anyone. Coming from Mexico by herself at only 14 taught her to not count on anyone.
They were in love.
Mi abuela would always try to help with the gang and that was something mi abuelo HATED.
So she did the only rational thing, made her own gang.
It consisted of her closest friends, and the girlfriends and wives of Los Asesinos.
They got married a year after dating, and soon mi abuela got pregnant.
She had 3 kids.
My Tio Gabriel, he was the oldest of the bunch, and the most mature. He finished school, and even graduated college. He moved to Brooklyn for a better job and visits on holidays.

My Tia Raquel, she was the worst, says my mom, she would steal, rob, and even do drugs. In and out of jail ever since i could remember, but she was my favorite tia and i looked up to her. When she got pregnant with mi prima, Litzy Marie Valdez, she got better, went to rehab. I still look up to her.

My mama Yesenia, was the youngest

My mama Yesenia, was the youngest. She was a problem child, but not as much as my tia, she would go out and get drunk, party all night, until she got pregnant with me at 17. Her and my papa weren't dating, and never actually did date. After having me, she named me Karla Liliana Valdez. They stayed friends and both worked hard to

Around the time i turned 2, the war in the gang land was at an all time high, it sadly resulted in my abuelo's death. That tore our family up. In his will he left my tio to take over. Ángeles del Infierno started to grow, ever girl around town wanted to be associated with them. Not only did the gang uplift women, it showed the dudes that women can be just as bad as them.
When i was 6 my mama got pregnant again, her and my papa both agreed they wanted one more kid. Then my little sister, Thalia Ivàna Valdez, was born.
More and more gangs started popping up in California , all of them claiming to be the baddest. Ángeles del Infierno stayed quiet while this was happening, not wanting to be included in another war.
When i was 16 i got the official Ángeles del Infierno tattoo.

And when my prima and hermana turned 16 they got the same thing

And when my prima and hermana turned 16 they got the same thing.
It was a reminder.
No matter how pretty we look we're tough as shit.
It also meant that no matter what bad things our men got into we would be there to make them better.
