So... Hello, I guess. You probably don't know who I am. Which is cool. I am a nobody. Well... was a nobody. Until I got sucked into all this weirdness. My name is Evelyn Viator and if you're reading this then you're probably in one of the alternate realities I've decided to settle down in and tell the story of how my life got turned upside down.
I was fourteen. Thinking about the new book for one of my favourite series. Like the absolute dork I am. I had a mediocre family life. My parents weren't amazing but I still loved them despite the arguments we had. Same goes for my brother.
Anyway, continuing on, I was walking down a pathway near a road on my way home from school. My brother had basketball training so it was just me, myself and I.
I was waking along the path, humming a song by Panic! At the Disco, when I tripped onto the road like the absolute idiot I am. A car came by and... I think you can guess the rest. I didn't see much. My brown hair, messy as always, spilled across my head. Just barely touching the road. My deep, dark blue eyes were probably already glazed over.
I still remember my last thoughts. Images of my family, my friends and my cat ran through my head. But my absolute last thought? I won't be able to read the new Trials of Apollo book.
What can I say? I told you I was a dork.
After that, I found myself at the base of a very tall pine tree, overlooking some kind of camp. There was a strawberry field, a big blue house, about twelve cabins, a beach, a small forest, a dining pavilion, an amphitheater, a training area, a rock climbing wall with lava...
Maybe my brain was slow because it was still processing that I'd died. Or maybe I was really just that dense. But eventually I realised,
I was at Camp Half-Blood?!
Now dear reader, Camp Half-Blood did not look anything like I'd imagined it too. The books did describe it perfectly but everyone's imagination is different.
I wandered down the hill of Thalia's pine tree towards the big house. Campers stopped what they were doing as I passed. I tried to act like I didn't care but that was pretty hard considering my brain was halfway to overloading. No one stopped me as I passed. Although, a lot of people did seem taller than usual but I paid it no mind.
That was until Chiron came clip clopping out of the house with Dionysus and a kid with black hair and sea green eyes following behind. "Oh great. Another twelve year old," He said with no enthusiasm.
Another? Twelve year old? "I'm not-" I began as I looked down at my body. I was twelve again. And I was shorter. Dammit, I liked being tall.
"How did you get here?" I was drawn out of my thoughts by Chiron.
"Um-I-" How did I explain this kind of thing? Simple, I don't. "I don't know." I paused. "Who else is here?"
"Do you know where you are?"
"Yes," I answered automatically. Wait. How was I supposed to know that!?
"How do you know this place?" Chiron looked at me like I was a math problem he needed to solve.
"I-" I was cut off by a whisper in the crowd.
"Maybe she could be a child of Apollo?"
That gave me an idea.
"I was given a prophetic gift from Apollo?"
"So you are aware of the Greek gods?"
I nodded and Dionysus clapped his hands. "Great! I've got better things to do," He grumbled and went back inside. The campers dispersed leaving just Chiron and the kid with black hair.
"What's your name?" Chiron asked.
"Evelyn. Evelyn Viator."
"Well Evelyn, would you like to join me and Percy on the tour of the camp?"
"Sure?"
"Okay then, follow me." He began to walk off with me and Percy lagging behind.
"So... I'm Percy Jackson." He held out his hand as we followed Chiron. I froze for a moment. Let out a breath. Then shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Percy Jackson."
Well this is different to your average day.
