I remember the diamond sparkling in the artificial lighting of the church.

The small gold band chilled my ring finger when he slid it on.

The words "I do" almost stuck in my throat.

It's okay. I tell myself. That's all over now.

It's all behind me.

He was so handsome in his suit. I felt like a princess in my dress.

I never did love him, but he never hurt me.

He always loved me, but I think I hurt him.

I set the ring down on the divorce papers.

"Oh, Jake." I whispered as I washed the blood from my hands.

"I wish you had just agreed to sign."
