Cold

Tonight the stars are nowhere to be found
As I lie awake under a rotting sheet
It felt like I was buried underground
Couldn't feel my hands nor feet

The deafening silence made my head spin
That I could no longer tell right from wrong
The cold slowly nibbled my pale skin
Harsher than a farewell song

But as I began to close my eyes
The dark clouds vanished
For the heavens heard my cries
And granted what I had wished

There was you
An angel in the form of a shadow
Telling me that nightmares are dreams too
Even though they spoke of sorrow

You made me realise
Not all bad are terrible
And that secrets and lies
Can be considered wonderful

You were like a beacon
Trying to bridle me from digging my grave
And you tried to be my reason
Like a light at the end of a cave

But like everyone else in this world
I have to let you go and say good bye
For I don't deserve your every word
And there's no need for you to cry

Cause like the ones before us said
Love is expensive and risky
An illness that has no aid
More deadly and tricky

So let me take my leave
Don't wait for my return
Nor stop me by holding my sleeve
And let yourself mourn
