Heating Up

"That was an absolutely unforgettable day." Jack chuckles to himself as he finds himself waiting just outside Kaylee's front porch again, this time early in the morning. Jack had decided to be her "chauffeur", and drive her to classes and back home where he would hang out with her for a while longer before leaving for home. Jack gives a few light raps and Kaylee is the one to answer.

"Hey Jack." Kaylee says. "You sure look like you're ready."

"Yep." Jack chuckles. "How about you?"

"I'm ready, let's go." Kaylee says.

"Have a good day you two!" Her mother calls out as the couple heads to Jack's car. Kaylee gets in the passenger side as Jack gets in the driver side and with everything all set, the two head to campus. Unfortunately for them the parking lot is jammed, with almost no parking spots left.

"Man, this is tough." Kaylee chuckles.

"No kidding- wait a spot just opened up!" Jack says as he drives over. He nabs the parking spot before another car can and with that the two get out.

"Talk about lucky." Kaylee says.

"I think I'm luckier that I'm with you." Jack says suavely and Kaylee giggles as they hold hands and make their way to the right building.

Tack. Tack. Tack. Tack. Tack.

Before they can head through the doors though, Jack can hear heavy footsteps as if someone's stomping over to them. Kaylee and Jack freeze in their tracks and see none other than Vanessa stomping over to them.

"What do you want?" Jack asks.

"Oh have I got news for you!" Vanessa says to Kaylee.

"What about?" Kaylee asks.

"I've seen Jack with other girls!" Vanessa says confidently. "I've been sneaking around and take a look at this!"

"Wha- why on earth are you stalking me for that matter?!" Jack asks.

"And what is the meaning of this?!" Kaylee shouts, and with that Vanessa produces pictures of Jack... With Logan, Rylee, Desiree and Orlagh.

"Well? Enough proof that this guy is cheating on you?" Vanessa asks. It's at this point that Jack facepalms.

"Vanessa... Those are his friends..." Kaylee mumbles. "Is my boyfriend not allowed to have friends or something?"

"If this were an anime we probably would have fallen over from the sheer stupidity by now..." Jack mumbles. "Please, just leave us alone Vanessa."

"Alright alright, geez." Vanessa mumbles as she walks off, feeling defeated.

"What is up with her?" Kaylee asks.

"The hell do I know?" Jack replies. "She's always been a little kooky but never to a point like this... Does she really hate me that much? Or is she trying to break us up?"

"Don't ask me." Kaylee chuckles. "I don't know her." And with that the two head into the building where Rylee, Desiree, Logan and Orlagh are all waiting.

"So..." Rylee begins.

"How was the date?" Desiree finishes.

"It was absolutely wonderful." Kaylee says happily. "While Jack did end up getting smacked in the face with a serving dish near the end of the date, everything else went pretty well."

"Wait... He got hit in the face with a serving dish?!" Orlagh asks, befuddled. "How did that happen?!"

"Waitress tripped and accidentally slapped me with it." Jack chuckles. "Everything else was fine."

"Wow... That must have been one hell of a first date." Logan chuckles.

"You know that French restaurant not too far from campus?" Jack asks.

"Yeah, didn't I mention it to you? Good food for cheap?" Logan replies.

"Well, the food certainly didn't lie. I haven't had French food before, but that was absolutely heavenly." Jack says. "Might I mention they actually have a dress code because they want to be authentic?"

"They wanted business casual." Kaylee adds. "So we delivered." She chuckles as she whips out her phone and pulls up a bunch of pictures her mom took of them before and after they went to the restaurant for their date. This consisted of individual pictures before and cute couple pictures after.

"Aww these are so cute! Especially the ones you took after!" Orlagh says, scrolling to one where Jack had carried Kaylee bridal style, another one where they were simply holding hands, and another one where Jack and Kaylee had embraced one another and were looking into the other's eyes. "Should I get a wedding gift? Cause you two are all but married!"

"Do you really think we're like that?" Kaylee chuckles. "We only started dating a few days ago."

"Still you two are so cute together, I think you two will be very happy together." Orlagh says.

"Well I best let you get to your class, don't want you to be late." Jack says, and Kaylee walks off.

"Alright, see you later!" Kaylee says.

Tack. Tack. Tack. Tack. Tack.

The noise slowly fades out as Kaylee vanishes round the corner and Jack and the others, minus Orlagh, head to their classroom.

"Say what did you guys eat there?" Logan asks. "I'm just curious."

"We had croqe monsieur and a quiche for entrees and for main course... It was some kind of soup for me and what was it called? Pat-el-fal?" Jack replies.

"I think it's called Pat-au-feu, but yeah those sound delicious!" Logan says.

"I'm not very good with French." Jack chuckles. "But yeah she had that, and for dessert we had some of those chocolate éclairs. Man I've forgotten how good those are."

"Well let's not let our talk about food stop us from getting to class." Rylee chuckles as the group makes their way to their classroom.
