Pier

My mind drifts off, as I drift off farther on the pier. My heart wanders as I wander out to the beginning of the end, how I wonder where the end is. Little do I know it's just around the corner. The sun slowly sets, and I breathe in the salty air. The slight breeze moves my hair onto the corners off my cheeks. I take a deep breath in and out. A whisper emerges out of the wind as if it's asking me something. As I get closer and closer to the end of the pier, I look out to see how far the ocean stretches. It goes farther out than I could ever imagine. I slowly bend over the water to look into the clear blue sea, and my reflection appears. The corners of my lips curve into a slight smile. I slip off my moccasins, and rest on the pier. I steadily place my two feet in the icy cold water, and close my eyes. This is home.
