Two birds on a wire
One tries to fly away
And the other watches him close from that wire
He says he wants to as well
But he is a liar...

I looked over the  wide expanse of plains, sitting on the wall, my cloak fluttering in the wind. I saw my mate, Herena, fly in front of me. She held out her hand, but I pulled away. She looked hurt but flew away.

I'll believe it all
There's nothing I won't understand
I'll believe it all
I won't let go of your hand

I sighed drawing my wings farther under the cloak I wore. Herena would understand, but I was scared. I wasn't ready to show the others.

Two birds on a wire
One says c'mon and the other says "I'm tired"
The sky is overcast and I'm sorry
One more or one less
Nobody's worried

This time it was my best friend, Takumi, who flew towards me. He was stubborn. He demanded that I join the others in flying.  He got angry when I refused, because 'It's gonna rain'.

I'll believe it all
There's nothing I won't understand
I'll believe it all
I won't let go of your hand

This led to Takumi almost pushing me off, by grabbing my cloak and pulling. This revealed my mangled, broken wings. He gasped and immediately went to hug me. I accepted and noticed he was crying, and so was I.

Two birds of a feather
Say that they're always gonna stay together
But one's...

Months later Herena, Takumi and I sat on that same wall, content to watch the others. I no longer wore my cloak, but held my wings proudly. They were battle scars, that I had earned. Nothing to be ashamed of.
