Alli's P.O.V.

The next morning, Michaela wakes me up by poking me repeatedly. She knows it's my pet peeve, so of course that's what she decided to do. I groan, squinting as a bright light is shining directly in my eyes. Michaela had opened the curtains.

"Get up! We leave the hotel in an hour." She yells.

I respond with another groan, rolling over to bury my face in the soft hotel pillows.

"Hey, don't groan at me, blame Bart. Also, wake up your boyfriend. I tried, but he wouldn't wake up."

I roll my eyes, and slowly get out of bed. I walk over to Shawn's bed and try to shake him awake. He's always been a heavy sleeper. When that obviously doesn't work, I try something cruel, but I know it will work. I walk to the bathroom and fill a bucket with water. Then I walk back to his bed, and dump it on him.

"What the fuck?!!" He yells as he shoots awake. "Why was that necessary?"

I shrug. "You wouldn't wake up!" He rolls his eyes. "Now I'm gonna get dressed. We leave for the airport in about 50 minutes."

After I grab my clothes, I step into the shower. When I'm out, I curl my hair and put on a little concealer and mascara. Since we're only going to the airport, I decide on comfy clothes. I throw on black leggings, a grey sweater, black combats, and a black and white scarf. I put my phone in my pink bag, and keep my sunglasses on top of my head (Outfit on side). When I come out, I look at the time. 30 minutes. Must be a new record.

"Are you finally done?" Shawn asks.

"Yes," I giggle.

"You have 20 mins. And we better not be late." Mickey yells. She always hated being late. "Oh and Alli, can I ask you something?"

"Sure. What is it?"

"I know that Jack liked you and stuff when you first came here. But I was talking to him, and he seems cool. Would it be okay if I asked him out?"

"I mean it's kinda soon. You guys just met like two days ago..."

"Yeah, but I don't know. It's worth a shot, don't you think?"

"Hey, your life, your rules. If you wanna ask him out, then go ahead." I plaster a fake smile on my face.

"Awesome! Thanks. I will."

We sit in an awkward silence until Shawn opens the door.

"You guys ready?" He asks.

The stale, dry air of the airplane burns my nose. It's not the only reason I feel uncomfortable, though. I'm sitting in between Gilinsky and Shawn. I'm trying to hold it together, but with the looks these two are giving each other, that temporary Peace may not last long. I just sigh, putting in my headphones. About 5 minutes before we take off, I get a text from Josh. It reads:

Hey. Heard you were coming to the Bay Area?

Fighting against my better judgement, I decide to text back.

Yea. I'm actually about to take off.

Within seconds he replies.

Ok. Text me when you land.

A nauseous feeling takes over me as I read the texts. The last thing I want to do is stay in contact with Josh. I look over at Shawn and see he has his headphones in with no intentions of talking to me. I look over at Gilinsky and catch him smiling at me.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing, I'm sorry."

I blush slightly and turn away. I'm stuck in between a rock and a hard place.

"Alli. Wake up."

Surprisingly Gilinsky wakes me up, not Shawn. As soon as I step off the plane, I remember Josh's texts. I'll text him back when there's a cold day in hell.

Josh and I started back in 8th grade. His older sister was on my competition team. Yes. I'm a dancer, but I don't really like to let people know. Anyway, I first met Josh after I won 1st place for my solo at nationals. He came up and congratulated me, and we ended up talking. After a while, one thing led to another and he asked me out. People said we were the ideal couple... Until he cheated on me. I'm still dumbfounded that I wasted so much time on him, when he didn't even care about me.

I feel my jaw and fists clench. I mean, I know that I should be over it by now, but it still hurts. We were both so young when this started, it hurts to think that with time and age he would just throw away all that we had.

"You okay?" Gilinsky snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah. Thanks."

"No problem. What were you thinking about?"

"Um, my ex is kind of contacting me."

"Oh. That's never good."

"You could say that again." He chuckles. "Why are you laughing?"

"Because, such a pretty girl shouldn't even care about a guy who is stupid enough to cheat on you. If he let you go, he's not worth your thoughts."

I feel my cheeks getting warm. It's weird because Shawn pretty much told me the same thing after Josh and I broke up. However, I still find an odd comfort in his words. I look over at Shawn and noticed that he's clutching his suitcase abnormally tight. My brows furrow in confusion, wondering what the commotion is about.

****

Shawn and I are unpacking our stuff in a weirdly uncomfortable silence. Michaela decided to go hang out with the boys. She hasn't been back in like 20 minutes, leaving her fully packed suitcase in the center of the hotel room. I'm surprised as Shawn decides to break the silence.

"So are you and Jack friends now or something?"

"What? What do you me-," He cuts me off.

"I saw you flirting with him." I burst out laughing. "Why are you laughing?"

"Because you're being ridiculous! Jack was helping me. I was thinking about Josh and I got really mad, and he calmed me down."

"I don't like that."

"I didn't know you got to monitor who I talk to." I scoff. "You would think that your best friend would wanna be there for you, especially in times like this, but when he has every opportunity to, he doesn't! Now whose fault is that?"

"Look, I was the only one who was there for you when Josh cheated on you. Everytime you started crying or got really mad, I sat with you. If you needed to rant, I would listen. Now why have things changed since we went to Magcon? Do you like Jack or something?"

I pause. I can't tell if I'm angry, disappointed, or uncomfortable. "No..." I finally decide.

"Good. Because you're mine."

Shawn pushes me against a wall and kisses me aggressively. I hesitate at first, but end up kissing him back. It eventually turns into a full make out session. His toungue swipes across my bottom lip asking for entrance. I let him in, but not before Mickey lets herself in the room.

"Sup guys." We pull apart, cheeks hot in embarrassment.

"Um... Hey." Shawn says awkwardly.

"So everyone wanted to get food. You coming?" She asks. Shawn and I both start laughing. "So I'll take that as a yes..."
