Welcome to DesertPunk, mothertroopers. You might be able to spot the trio of magazines littering the bleak road on the above cover. That's OceanPunk, SkyPunk and SpacePunk, which I personally see as being companions of sort to DesertPunk.
What is DesertPunk?
At its most basic, imagine a world that's nothing but desert! What separates this from Space Western? Namely that DesertPunk doesn't necessarily take influence from the western stories of old!
A big advantage to setting a sci-fi world in a desert is that it's easy to conceptualize, compared to a geographically and culturally diverse world like Earth. That's not to say you can't include diversity, but DesertPunk strives to make the most of little, with technology tailor-made for such harsh conditions.
