PUTRI WULANDARI WAS not the most popular girl at school, yes, she was known (whether it was for her skin color or "weird" etiquette) but she wasn't someone who would classify as "popular". She didn't really care about social status, until she befriended THEO KLINE, a pretty popular student in Hawkins High School and the son of the mayor himself.
She was talked about a lot, because people wonder, for how she could befriend Theo, when she wasn't even the same socialite as him?
But, they actually became the bestest of friends all through out of high school. They always ate lunch together, go home together after school, they were basically inseparable. But, then Theo didn't got accepted to any colleges, while Putri got accepted at a university in California. They had to part ways. when Putri was studying in college, Theo worked at an ice cream parlor named "Scoops Ahoy" (mostly forced by his dad).
Theo and Putri still stayed in touch, they usually send letter's together (since Hawkins' signal from California is too far to reach). But, they gradually lost interest in making anymore letters and with Putri's tight schedule, it was kind of impossible for her to make another letter.
But, on summer of 1985, she finally got home from college and decided to try to find Theo. The last letter he ever sent was that he got a job at an ice cream parlor called "Scoops Ahoy" that he didn't even want at the first place.
When she found the ice cream parlor, she thought she would see Theo behind the ice cream counter, but it was a girl. A pretty one in fact. But that is no matter, Putri then talked to the girl and ordered a strawberry sundae, something she would have usually.
When she finally "found" Theo, she also found his co-workers who she used to go to school with. Of course she knew who Steve "The Hair" Harrington was, Steve was such a popular dude back then. But, she didn't really know the girl who gave her the strawberry sundae. She only knew her first name Robin. But they would know each other when they accidentally got stuck cracking codes and uncovering a russian secret base.
