A glossy blotch of red
Travels through the sky
Out of site…
Away from me
Without a due goodbye
I created you
I strung you up
I blew you up, not on a whim
But because I put my faith in you
To make sure that I would win.
With every burst of air exhaled
Anticipation had creeped in
My heart, as well, had joined the mix
I know
But not sure when
And now that faithful organ’s burst;
It appears that you will too
Soon of course!
As you heave towards
The heavens: bare and grim.
You had been my special present
She had accepted
She had smiled
Her delighted hand had grasped at you
But the grasp was just too mild
In one moment we were jubilant
So marvelous!
--Then I knew
In our haste,
The gift was tossed
And lost within the blue.
