AFTERMATH - Stranger Things 3

Chapter 9

Mike impatiently waiting inside the Wheeler's basement. Nancy had left the house, but wouldn't tell him why. No one else in the party had shown up yet, which only made him grow even more impatient. He looked at his watch every five seconds as he was waiting for his friends and sister to come back.

Finally, Dustin showed up along with Robin and Steve. Soon after, Lucas and Max arrived with Erica. After a few more minutes, Nancy came back with two unfamiliar girls behind her. Mike furrowed his eyes when he saw the two girls in confusion.

"Nancy, who are they?" He asked his sister. "Why are they here?"

"This is Reyna and Cat," Nancy introduced them. "And I think they can tell you themselves on why they're here."

Mike looked over at the two girls and watched as they showed their left arms at him. His eyes widened when he saw a 005 tattoo on Reyna and a 009 tattoo on Cat. He looked up at them as they hid their arms again.

"So there are more of you," Mike said under his breath. He remembered El telling him about when she met Kali, who was 008. He had always questioned that there could be more people with powers like El, but this only confirmed his theory more. 

"Nancy told us everything that happened here," Reyna said. "I knew it had something to do with Eleven, or El as you call her now. And of course, the government wants it all to be covered up. They don't want to deal with the fact that they imprisoned children and experimented on them. It's complete bullshit."

"I agree with that, even though all of the people who experimented on you guys are gone now," Mike said. "We exposed them for what they did, so the lab shut down. Now Hawkins is becoming more aware and people have started to move away now. What powers do you guys have?"

"Rey is a shapeshifter and I have ice powers," Cat said. "They would be cool if the fucking government didn't want to fuck up our lives with experiments and shit."

"I also have telepathy and teleportation," Reyna added. "So, what's been going on here? Something about communication problems?"

Mike nodded in response. "Max and I were talking to the chief, who we thought died back at Starcourt. He was captured by Russians and is currently in a Russian prison. He wanted us to tell El that he was alive, but that was when the Cerebro we were using stopped working. Black lines are covering all communication devices here in Hawkins and we know it's the Mind Flayer's doing."

"We were planning on having one group looking around Hawkins for any sign of a gate," Lucas explained. "There has to be one connecting from here to Russia in order for Hopper to come back here. Another group tries to fix any kind of communication in order to call the army to get them here to fight the Russians."

"And a third group to go to Derry," Mike added. Everyone looked over at him with odd looks. "El needs to know about Hopper. Same with Mrs. Byers. Keeping them in the dark about someone they care about is just wrong. I promised Hopper and I don't break my promises."

The party then started grouping up together to figure out who would to go where. Mike, Nancy, Reyna, and Robin were going to drive to Derry. Dustin, Erica, and Steve would try to fix any communications. Lucas, Max, and Cat were going to try to find the gate in Hawkins.

Nancy went into her car and put the keys in. Mike sat in the front seat along and Reyna and Robin sat together in the back seats. Nancy pulled out of the driveway started to drive out of Hawkins. Mike had his supercom with him to try and get a signal once they got out of Hawkins to see if it would work.

Once they drove out of Hawkins, Mike started to hear the static coming out of his supercom. He grinned when he heard it and turned it off. Now they knew that communications were only down in Hawkins. The Mind Flayer didn't want them to reach El because it knew she was out of Hawkins now.
