A splitting of the mind theory.

Markman read the note when he died and the words made an actual sentence, but it didn't connect in her mind. so continuously for hours upon her days she attempted to make sense of the note, driving herself into a minor case of paranoia. While reading the letter she tried to connect Jasper to the note, causing her to see her version of Jasper.

When Gerard was launching at Skull ,he knew it was not a fight to win and that there were people around the corner to back Skull up. Skull and his band of bad boys attempted to jump him, but Gerard did not pass out when he blacked out. Gerard began to take every anger and regret out on them, therefore causing him to be strapped down.

But the reason he died was not because his he'd was cut open. Remember how all the doctors were fighting over his scan? Well they were upset because he got worst and were arguing over what to do to fix him. Gerard was getting worse and Frank knew he was. The pills he had were supposedly going to make his brain better, but with a regular dose. Gerard would only take them occasionally so the medicine made him mind go up and down, making it worst. The bang to the table at the end of the story just made it worst, causing the weakest part of his brain to rupture, making his head slowly fill with blood and causing his death

However let's talk of what happened before the very death of him. Gerard knew them and Jasper weren't real, but that day his brain was so weak, he couldn't comprehend it to what it really was. Gerard felt like he was hallucinating Frank's presence before he opened his eyes, and he knew that he was dying and could feel it, but he let them continue on so he could live happily before he died.
A little something extra

When Gerard wrote down his secret that was exactly twenty-four words, it was not what he thought he wrote. It could of been "I know things" eight times. It could of been something he said to Frank or wanted to. It could be he confessed he was crazy and apologized to all the people he hurt. Or, no words at all. A drawing. A drawing of who he thought was batman. Himself. "Gee-rard."
