I waited for a shooting star

I had a wish

I saw it falling and closed my eyes

Thinking this would be it

Said what had been buried for a lifetime

I would get what I want I thought

But you stayed where you are

And I am where I was

I am still waiting for a shooting star

Because the star is broken, but my dreams are not

I am waiting to wish again

To start it all over and just pretend

That you will be mine someday

And I will not have to stay awake for a star to fall
