The New Shadowhunter

My name is Isabelle

Well my name is Isabelle but don't ever call me that. My parents thought that it was a beautiful name for a beautiful girl when I was born, but it just doesn't feel right.

Most of my friends call me Izzy or Iz but my family has the high honor of calling me Belle. No one is aloud to call me Belle Except for my family and a select few. Isabella, that's another one. My name is spelt with an 'e' at the end not an 'a' so I'm oh so confused at how every teacher I've had thinks my name is Isabella!

I will worn you now that if you do call me a name I don't like your head will be off in seconds. Everyone knows this and now so do you.

But there is one thing that none of my mundane friends know. The thing that makes me, me. Of course if I told them they would lock me up in a mental institution and throw away the key. It's extremely hard for a mundane to understand what we are trying to protect them from, which is the main reason why we keep our mouths shut, and bye we I mean Shadowhunters.

For you mundanes out there who have no idea what that is I will give you an idea. Remember when you were a kid and you believed in magic. Well you were right. Magic is all around you even though you may not know it. The people in my world who deal with such things are called Warlocks. Along with them there are wearwolfs, vampires, faeries and us the Shadowhunters.

"Shadow hunter what are they" you are probably asking yourself. Well we are what you would call demon slayers. In this perfect little world you mundanes think you live in would be in ruins if it wasn't for us. We kill the demons, slay them before you mundies can be harmed. Now we start training for this at the age of 11 which is when we get our first runes. Runes are like you'r tattoos but they are much more powerful. You draw a strength rune on a Shadowhunter, they become amazingly stronger, but if you put one on a mundane....well they call that forsaken but you don't really need to know that. Yet.

Now demons.

Demons are creatures of other realms. By realms I mean like hell, but oh there are much more. They come in all different shapes and sizes and names and all of them have a status of power which helps me do my job. For example, greater demons, lesser demons, etc.

Sometimes a demon will "interact" with human women and create a warlock. So that explains why they can perform magic but it also means that they are tricky so we must deal with them properly when needed.

So now you know most of the loops of the downworlders (all magical folk except Shadowhunters) you may start this book without any confusion.... ok maybe a little confusion but lets see how it goes!
