"Thanks again, Ruby. Bye baby." She kissed her daughter on the forehead before finally taking her leave.

I assisted Ellie with strapping on her seat belt and then, I had strapped on mine as well before driving off.

I switched off the car engine once we arrived at Brian's house. Before I could however get down from the car to open the door on her side so that I could help with unbuckling her seat belt, she had already done that herself. I proceeded to open the door for her. After getting my things and her things out of the car, I held her hand in mine while I led the way.

"I love your house." Came her tiny voice which sounded a little bit high pitched than earlier at the parking lot at work.

"You do?"

"It is big and beautiful. Ours is beautiful too but not as big as this, yet..." Her voice trailed off. I looked down at her to check what the problem was.

She seemed a little downcast.

"What's wrong?" I asked putting our walk towards the door to a stop.

"My mum is always sad."

"Why?"

"Because of my daddy, he brings different women home all the time." She revealed. Even though I just started working at UF, I noticed that on certain days Catherine would seem kind of off.

And what kind of man brings women he's having affair with into the house where his wife and children are staying?

"They could just be his friends." I tried to lighten her mood.

"They are not." She protested.

"I don't know if there is anything I can do to help. Will you like me to help your Mum?"

"Can you?" Her face brightened up.

"Maybe. Let's go in now."

"Why do you have a separate room." She asked while I helped her with taking off her shoes and socks with her seated on the edge of my bed.

"What do you mean?"

"Are you not supposed to be sharing the same room with Ryan?"

"No," I chuckled. "It's Brian."

"Brian. Okay."

"Actually we're sharing the same room but I have a lot of things, I just keep them here."

She shrugged at my response, "Sounds convincing. Is he a nice person?"

"Yes, he is."

"Whoo! Since you didn't think twice before saying yes he must be really nice then and you must really love him, don't you?" She asked.

The knock at door that moment was what saved me from having to answer her question. It was Anthony who had come up to inform me that dinner was ready.

"Dinner is ready. Come on, let's go downstairs."

"But I need to wash my hands." She voiced out. Taking her into the bathroom with all of my things all laid out would make her suspect that I was lying about sharing the same room with Brian.

At the thought of that, I knew I needed to put everything away before I could allow her to enter the bathroom. It wouldn't be safe if words started to get out about us sharing separate rooms which would lead to them finding out about the marriage being fake too.

"We will do that downstairs, I haven't washed mine too."

I helped her to a chair at the dining table after we had both washed our hands in the kitchen before making up an excuse to go back to my room to take the opportunity to put everything away.
