She couldn't recall her name. She could, however, recall what had happened to her and what the number imprinted on her wrist meant.

It was a reminder of isolation...a past life...

❝THE BATHTUB❞
Jonathan's idea had worked, and it had also been ingenious. They had all head over to the Byers residence and were now sitting within the living space and awaiting Hopper's return, seeing as he'd head for the abandoned junkyard.
Mike had been able to tell them their location over the walkie-talkie that Will had used to contact his friends, Joyce having found the device beneath his bed.
Now, Jonathan was resting on the couch and fiddling with his fingers, Nancy adjacent to him and bouncing one of her feet up-and-down.
Nine's eyes analyzed the wall behind Jonathan, large black letters painted across the floral wallpaper, multi-coloured Christmas lights hanging across the wall, one bulb above each letter.
Focusing her gaze elsewhere, Nine also found that house was littered with boxes and miscellaneous items, causing it to look more run down than it really was.
The interior was also had quite a bit of darker tones, which made the space feel a bit smaller than it actually was, however, Nine admired the house because it was a home. Something she'd never had.
❝Are you hungry?❞
Joyce's voice interrupted her thoughts as she turned and saw the woman rummaging through her empty cupboards, reaching in and attempting to find anything for Nine to eat.
❝I'm fine.❞
Nine was curt but quickly parted her lips.
❝Thank you.❞
She remembered her manners every now and again, but she knew she needed to improve on her skills in that department. However, Joyce just sighed as she closed the cupboard closest to her nearly empty fridge.
❝Are you cold? Do you want a blanket?❞
❝It's okay, I'm fine.❞
Joyce watched as Nine stood in the doorway leading into the kitchen, one hand on the moulding of the entrance, the other shoved into the front pocket of her jeans.
Her blanket had been discarded on the coffee table in the living room and she was licking her cracked lips, wondering if Hopper would, in fact, return with Eleven.
❝Um, sweetie, is your name Nine?❞
Joyce was asking as she lowered herself onto one of the chairs surrounding the circular wooden table, watching as Nine crossed her arms and nodded.
She was quiet, but this was no surprise to the woman, she could only imagine what traumatic experiences this poor girl must have gone through.
