"I saw something today." I said as I entered the apartment.
Our new apartment.
It was five weeks since we moved.
The owner of the building was an old couple without kids and liked to travel a lot. So at minimum rent they let us have the two roomed apartment.
The apartment along with two bedrooms had a bathroom, a nice living room a nice kitchen all furnished.
It made me feel at peace cause we were able to sell the stuff that we had previously and packed our cloths in huge nags and leave Queens for a good cause.
Plus the campus was a five minute walking distance.
I worked on the library beside the campus area that sold old, secondhand and new books.
And Becca managed the flower shop bellow out apartment complex that the lady owner owned.
It was kinda okay life.
But mentally at the same time it wasn't.
Becca didn't want to go by Becca no more, afraid that guy would find her again. So she switched to her full fledged name. Rebecca.
And she hated it.
"What did you see?" She asked.
That little rat missed in the class because she had a test before the finals and her syllabus was almost all left.
So she stayed and studied and worked down at the flower shop.
I had went to the bookstore to collect a couple of books I'd need as reference for the finals and bought them at three dollars secondhand. And I was quite proud of the small amount of money I saved.
"What did you see, Luce?" Becca asks again rolling her eyes.
"Oh?" I reply. "What I saw was a couple of kids raising money."
"Why is that so uncommon?" She rolled her eyes again. Still focused on her fat book.
"It's not uncommon..." I say sitting on the soft fluffy couch beside her jumping twice. "It just gave me the idea..."
"What idea?" She asks.
"Uh...you member that day when we went to get a rug for the house and saw a women almost at the end of her pregnancy..."
"The one all dirty and homeless?"
"Yeah." I say. "I mean...what if we start an independent organization...for people who are homeless and need help.*
"What do you mean?"
"Like an NGO." I say with a smile. "For homeless and shelterless people."
Becca closed her book with a slam. She was a political science student and a fucking cunning one that is.
